Very good 3D platformer.
Amazing to play in co-op. Can be a little bit buggy with respawning though.
Cute!

This game has some really great mechanics. There are lots of things you can do with different hats and badges and there is a lot of replayability. A single playthrough (not including DLC) doesn't take much longer than about 12 hours so it's not a lengthy game but it's still a good length for this type of game.

Camera angles can be annoying at times particularly when jumping between small platforms in dark areas, but the game is designed pretty well so you can distinguish between objects fairly easily even with sub-optimal camera angles.

Level design is generally pretty great. Awesome art style. Some levels are a bit tedious and some levels are better than others.

For those who are faint-hearted: There is one rather scary horror level. You can skip this one I think and you can still access the later areas in the game. Anyway, the horror level isn't hard and u can always play without headphones/speakers :P

List of bugs (as of 2019):
When playing co-op, sometimes the other player doesn't spawn after death which can result in you having to restart the whole level. This is rather rare though. To prevent this problem, get the other player to stand still in an open location before respawning.
In the final boss fight in the Subcon forest, there is a bug where if one player dies in the shadow bit (where two shadow figures jump at the player) the player experiences a black screen and cannot respawn.

PSA:
After the Telltale servers shut down, it seems like your choices don't carry over between episodes anymore... HOWEVER, I found a fix!
Renaming your save game (in the in-game menu as you're selecting an episode) to something like "Game1" fixes the issue.
Deselecting and reselecting the save game before starting an episode may also help.

Here's a brief review:

The game is like watching a poorly edited but rather well written film. Most of the game consists of quick-time events and dialogue options that very slightly change the story, but there are some parts of the game that are actually quite fun such as the bit where you customize the robot in Episode 1 (machine gun and grenades ftw) as well as the last episode where the quick-time events are used quite well.

I found the story quite engaging and the dialogue quite humorous, with some pretty great characters (Loader Bot is the best character). The type of story found in Tales from the Borderlands is more focused on its characters rather than the plot. You can never tell which direction the plot is going to take.

Each episode takes about 2-3 hours to complete. Gameplay-wise, I think it's best to play with a controller, the KB & M controls have this weird mouse acceleration which I don't like.

If you're looking for a Telltale game to play, I would suggest this one. It's one of the best games from Telltale. Telltale's typical cell-shaded art style actually fits very very well with the art style of Borderlands, it's like a match made in heaven.

If you're concerned about spoilers for previous Borderlands games, I guess the biggest spoiler is Handsome Jack's fate and also some of the dialogue in the last episode references a rather significant character death in Borderlands 2. The story in Borderlands 2 isn't really that excellent though, so the spoilers in this game isn't a huge concern but it is something to be wary of. To maximise your experience in this game, it is best to play Borderlands 2 first (excluding the "Fight for Sanctuary" DLC). You don't have to play Borderlands 1 or the pre-sequel, only Borderlands 2 is relevant in this story (although there are references and characters from the pre-sequel).
If it's been a while since you've played Borderlands 2, you can find a "timeline" page on the official borderlands website which summarises the major events of the story in a short and succinct manner (also includes the stories for the other borderlands game including Tales from the Borderlands which I would recommend reading if you don't intend to play those games).

Overall, I would recommend this game if you're looking for a relaxing story-focused game. It has a great ending, although it's an open-ended ending (which some people may not like).

The story fits in very well with the borderlands universe. Seeing how mediocre the story was in previous Borderlands games, Telltale games has done a good job of giving the story some justice by making an interesting and engaging storyline as a (possibly canon?) sequel to Borderlands 2.
EDIT: Apparently Tales from the Borderlands is referenced in the "Fight for Sanctuary" DLC (new DLC released in 2019) for Borderlands 2. I would guess that it is also referenced in Borderlands 3.

Life is Strange is one of those "sit back and relax" games with a beautiful story.
Great to play with a controller. Excellent atmosphere. Great soundtrack.

"This action will have consequences"
WHAT HAVE I DONE

Life is Strange takes place over a school week, where 'strange' things happen. Each individual episode takes over the course of (approximately) a day.

One of the things that makes this game different from games like The Walking dead is there aren't really any quicktime events, so you can make your choices at a leisurely pace.

Typical gameplay length is around 15-20 hours for a 'full' gameplay where you interact with almost everything. For a completionist it would take a lot longer since you'll have to constantly load back or do at least two playthroughs.

For me, my gameplay was around 18 hours. The hardest part was finding the last bottle.
If you get stuck, make sure to use your rewind power.

cool.

Note that, as of writing this, this game gets updated every now and then. When the game gets updated, mods such as SKSE may not work. I'm pretty sure graphical or sound mods shouldn't be affected by updates, but gameplay affecting mods may end up being broken by updates, potentially bricking your save files.

check out my OG skyrim review for more info.

The "Definitive Collection" review (Version 1.16):
TBD (this review isn't even finished yet why am I showcasing this on my profile!?)

I recommend this version of doom 3 because it allows you to easily play doom I and doom II in higher resolution along with achievements.

NOTE: To change controls, you have to go into Doom 3 and change the key bindings (and graphical settings) there which in turn change the keybindings of doom 1 and 2.

I recommend these keybindings:
Forward: W
Sprint: LSHIFT
Attack: UPARROW, MOUSE1
Other settings can be kept as default.

Add these to your steam launch options: +set com_allowconsole 0 +set com_skipintrovideos 1

Other settings:
Disable fullscreen and use the Borderless Gaming app (available on github or steam) to run DOOM in borderless windowed mode (enable the slower window detection mode in the borderless gaming app to reduce CPU usage).
NOTE: Borderless Gaming may have issues if you launch it before launching Doom 3 BFG. I recommend launching Doom 3 first, wait until the main menu appears, then launch borderless gaming afterwards

The BFG collection does not include Final Doom and Master Levels for Doom 2, so you are not getting the "definitive collection" but it's close enough. For the ultimate doom experience I would recommend buying both Doom 3 BFG and Doom Classic Complete. There is also another reason to get Doom Classic Complete (see the MODDING section below).

The Doom games (1 and 2) are such good games to play on the go because you don't even need to use a mouse, you can just use the left and right arrows to aim.

REVIEW:

DOOM 1:
Doom is a game where you shoot a bunch of demons, some of which pose quite a challenge. It is quite fun and the gunplay is satisfying. Exploring each map is rewarding as you can find secrets which can give you more ammo or make your character even more overpowered. I would recommend this if you're looking for a challenging and rewarding FPS game.

Episode 1 - If you're playing with a mouse, definitely play on ultra-violence. Ultra-violence difficulty is quite playable with keyboard-only controls as well. Episode 1 is the most fun episode in Doom 1 IMO.

Episode 2 - If you found ultra-violence to be difficult in episode 1, I'd suggest toning down the difficulty a bit in this episode. Ammo is scarce and some monsters are quite bullet-spongey in ultra-violence difficulty in this episode. The maps are more complex in this episode compared to the 1st one. Also, I feel like in this episode the risk to reward ratio isn't very high. There is little incentive to exploring secret areas in this episode because you end up losing ammo more often than gaining it (in Ultra Violence difficulty), this is one of the reasons why I suggest toning down the difficulty.

Episode 3 - The BFG 9000 is pretty epic. Pretty similar to Episode 2 in terms of difficulty with more hell-ish level design.

DOOM 2:
DOOM 1's shotgun felt weak and under powered in the later episodes (particularly with the Baron of Hell enemies). The double barrel shotgun in DOOM 2 fixes those issues and is the most fun gun in the game. Aside from the shotgun, Doom 2 isn't that much different to Doom 1 in terms of gameplay and the levels appear to be smaller in Doom 2 compared to Doom 1.

MODDING:

NOTE: I cannot guarantee that the below modifications will work for every level. As of writing this I have yet to do a full play-through using the below configuration, and I haven't tested the secret levels. Take my advice with a grain of salt.

Doom 3 contains modified BFG versions of the DOOM I and II WAD files. If you have the original unmodified versions of Doom 1 and 2, you can get them to work in Doom 3 BFG:
0. Backup your WAD files from base/wads folder.
1. Get the .WAD file from your "Ultimate Doom" installation
2. Copy it over to your Doom 3 BFG installation (overwrite the existing WAD file)
3. ???
4. Voilà you're running the original doom at a higher resolution and with achievements.

One thing to note is that since Doom 3 BFG has different menu options, when you run with the Ultimate Doom WAD file you can't change the settings and quitting the game results in Doom 3 BFG crashing rather than going to the game selection screen.

If you want to change settings, simply run the BFG WAD file, adjust some settings, close the game, then run the normal Doom WAD file again following the above instructions...
If you have lost your original WAD files, you can always verify game file integrity from steam to get those files back.

If you don't want to bother with steam achievements, check out "Classic RBDOOM 3 BFG".
Alternatively to Doom 3 BFG, you can use GZDoom to run Doom 1 and 2. This has the advantage of also working on Mac, while Doom 3 BFG is windows-only.

I intend to update this review sometime in the future with a guide for mods installation.
Note to self: Test RBDOOM 3 BFG and include a brief installation guide with alternative methods. I might make a backup of the review before I rewrite. Consider using steam text formatting

If you want Steam to count your playtime while playing mods, it is possible to do so.
I looked up "Steam Change Executable" on Google and there appears to be a three methods of doing so:

1. (best method) Copy the game files to a seperate folder outside of the steam folder. Create symbolic links to link the exe in the steam folder to a different exe in the external folder using the mklink command in command prompt. One advantage of doing this is that you don't have to worry about your game automatically updating (this prevents save games from being corrupted if an update were to break your mods - at worst you would have to make the
symlink again).
NOTE: I haven't tested this out yet as of writing this. Back up your files before trying this!

Source (I am not including the URL directly because in the future the website could be deleted or changed):
Comments from youtube watch?v=CEIKMCFsUfI

2. Rename the mod's .exe file to the same name as the original .exe file.
E.g. On Skyrim you can rename "SKSE" to "SkyrimLauncher" and open it on steam. I imagine the process would be the same for most games.
Source: steam community discussions/forum/1/43099721856043414/

3. Use steam command line arguments. Apparently you can change the executable to launch by using some trickery. Some file editing may also be necessary.
Source: custom-executables-in-steam by adminswerk de.
Another thing to add: I've heard that you can paste the file path name into steam launch options which works for some games (i.e. bypassing Civ VI launcher).

Note: If you have issues with the above methods, disabling steam overlay and disabling automatic updates for the game may help.

Extra info:
Main differences between normal Doom I and II WAD file and BFG version include:

1. Options are different, BFG version has more sensitivity options and has a fullscreen toggle
2. "Quit" menu is different, BFG has a menu where you can either cancel, go back to Doom 3 BFG game selection screen, or quit the game entirely. Normal Doom has a Y/N option, and running normal doom in BFG results in a crash as soon as you press "quit".
3. Censorship. Doom II BFG has quite a lot of textures that are changed to be more appropriate for a worldwide release. Doom I BFG has minor changes in this regard.

If you want to mod the GOG version of the game, make sure gog galaxy is closed and then edit the "gogame-xxxxxxxxxx.info" in the game's install directory and replace the name of the exe file with the exe file you want to open near the top of the document. This should work with almost any game on GOG.
Disabling GOG Galaxy overlay and disabling automatic updates may help just like Steam.

DOOM 3 Review:

I'll update this once I actually play the 'Doom 3' part of Doom 3 BFG.

I have reached my character limit so I might write this part of the review as a separate comment :P

Great third person shooter action, kinda similar to Mafia. The gameplay is really fun. Cool shooting mechanics.
Good story with humorous dialogue.
Honestly, this is probably my favourite 3rd person shooter.

During your playthrough you MUST watch the TV shows, they are (probably) the best parts of the game :P

Look at this sound patch (a requirement if you run windows 10) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ri2lWK_SKAc
NOTE: running a batch file in administrator mode makes it open in system 32?
So, don't open the batch file in administrator mode... like I did. Otherwise, the patch won't work. Before installing the patch, be sure to untick the "read only" thingy on your game installation folder's properties.

NOTE: I have played over 40 hours on the origin version of the game, so the hours I have spent on steam are not representative of the amount I have played.

Mass Effect 2 is a good game, but it lacks some RPG elements that were in its predecessor Mass Effect 1 and it feels kind of like a downgrade gameplay wise.

Don't get me wrong, Mass Effect 2 has better gunplay and better level design than Mass Effect 1. The side quests also seem to actually be somewhat good in Mass Effect 2 while in mass effect 1 the side quests weren't that great.

Mass Effect 2 fixes a lot of what is wrong with Mass Effect 1 such as the elevators and repetitive level design, but it doesn't do what was good in Mass Effect 1.

Weapon customization is non-existent in Mass Effect 2 and character customization is a joke, there isn't any higher tier armour to work for, you basically get the best weapons/armour in the start of the game and you get "upgrades" later on in the game which doesn't really promote looting as much as it did in Mass effect 1.
Squads mattered a lot more in Mass Effect 1 while in Mass Effect 2 the whole biotic powers thing isn't as important and it's basically just point and shoot while in Mass effect 1 there was a little bit more strategy.

Story was better in Mass Effect 1, but Mass Effect 2 has better writing with more meaningful conversations and you get more squadmates which is always a plus, but most conversations usually come up with a similar outcome while in mass effect 1 there was a little bit more variety.

Still a good game besides those criticisms and although I didn't really like the whole loyalty system at first, it kinda grew on me and has become one of the good things about mass effect 2.

Ratings for all Mass Effect Games:

Mass Effect: 8.5/10
Mass Effect 2: 8/10
Mass Effect 3: 7/10

Summary:
Mass Effect 1: Has the most RPG elements. Side-quests are a bit of a chore. A bit rough around the edges. Otherwise, a pretty solid game.
Mass Effect 2: Despite being dumbed down (controls are dumbed down for consoles, weapon customization is pretty much non-existant, character classes are unimportant, less reliance on 'squad'), Mass Effect 2 remains the most polished game out of the 3. Side-quests are now bareable. Introduces many new and memorable characters and has the most content out of the three games.
Mass Effect 3: Mass Effect 2 but not as good. Sloppy writing. Probably some of the best gunplay in the series, but overall the game feels empty compared to Mass Effect 2.

Regarding mods:
-I highly suggest using MEUITM (Mass Effect 1) and ALOT (Mass Effect 1,2,3). These mods fix the texture issues present in the mass effect series and increases the texture resolution to near 4k quality over the original 'bethesda' quality (*cough* fallout 3 *cough*).
-Both Mass Effect 2 and 3 require a DLC patch before any mods are installed
-I recommend you use a fuel and space probe mod for mass effect 2 since by default the whole space travel thing is a pain.

CS:GO рецензия
It's not a bad game, but it doesn't have much replay value.
Games like TF2 stay fun because you get rewards such as items to spruce up your characters/classes and the community servers are unique and change all the time.
CS:GO just feels like a competition, it feels more like doing work rather than being fun and doesn't help at all with relaxation which is what you would want to acheive after already being stressed by work and school.
The cancerous fanbase and the excessive microtransactions (heck even certain missions require you to pay for them, TF2 is allowed to do this because it is free, but a $15 game shouldn't have this) doesn't help either.
Though if you are up for a competitive shooter, CS:GO is a good choice (one of the best choices actually, it competes with games such as Overwatch or Valorant) although it doesn't feel like it should be worth $15 USD, the fact that the game is over 4 years old and the gameplay/graphics isn't exactly next gen doesn't make me think it should be that much.
I would wait until the game is on sale before buying.
EDIT: apparently the operations are decent
EDIT 2: Good with friends. But Valve already has a game that is even better with friends - Left 4 Dead 2
EDIT 3: Oh the game is free now
EDIT 4: It can be said that playing a not-so-relaxing game can be useful. It helps to keep you sharp particularly if you feel unfocused in other aspects of life. The "rewards" I alluded to in previous games may perhaps just be a waste of time, and really it is the core gameplay loop which matters (like what Sseth alludes to in his warthunder review). So, perhaps CSGO is actually good. CSGO is one of the few games that supports 5 people; but if you're playing with a group of 4 or less it is worthwhile trying out some other games too. CSGO is one of those games that has a lot of tension, particularly if you play competitive but even casually too.
