One of the best games for learning why building codes exist. Play it like a roguelike, never scum save, and watch the best stories emerge.

A pseudo-passive bullet hell rogue-like with simple controls, a well curated power curve, and a satisfyingly crunchy visual scream-scape of violence. Recommend

Despite the character models looking shabby compared to the "idea" of what a person might look like to my 5 year old wielding a crayola, dis game is GÜD!

I really enjoyed this game. I came fresh off a great Rimworld experience and it was a nice change of pace. Even right out of the Early Access gate it was in great shape. Can't wait until its all complete.

If you played Hearthstone and found it to lack depth then you can go to the other end of the spectrum and try Hex.

Hex, based heavily on Magic The gathering, improves a bit on the old formula by cleaning up the experience. It removes the need to track your land instead using a Threshold system where you burn a resource card to gain a resource. Colors are managed through the same system whereupon spending the resource card you can a gem of the matching color. Most cards have a "gem requirement" that you have to mee to play them. In addition, it makes great use of the digital aspect of the game in terms of card abilities. Examples of this are cards that randomly generate a troop of a certain from the whole game inventory of cards, something that would be impossible in a physical game. Another example is the keyword "Prophecy" which gives a boost to the next troop in your deck.

Beyond core gameplay, Hex does a great job of managing the player turns and windows of opportunity. Hearthstone addressed the challenges of a digital TCG by doing away with these windows. Hex has tried to preserve them but focused on making it very easy to stay aware of the tit-for-tat back and forth of passing on your opponents turn.

What makes Hex special?

Besides being the best serious TCG in digital format (real life value of cards, streamlined play, unique setting, factions and art) Hex is unique because of its RPG elements.

There is a PvE campaign where your character levels up, gains skills/talents, and provides unique deck encounters.
Cards can be upgraded with Gems that give them unique abilities.
Your avatar can wear equipment which changes the function of cards in meaningful ways.

Hex's community is also the best in terms of engagement, helpfulness, and passion amongst all of the digital TCGs.

Bottom Line: If you like strategy and card games there is no better choice than Hex.

A heavier focus on agents but still great! Great mod support!
