Even though this is not the most polished or complete game, out of all the current options for NFS on Steam... this one seems to be the best one!

Why? Well, there are no microtransactions, there's no DLC, you get the game for just $10, the graphics are decent enough, and it runs well. It's not full of horrible bugs either to the point of it being game breaking. It doesn't require Origin either, or to be online to play.

It's basically just what I really wanted, a pure fun game that isn't full of the modern gaming plagues.

Insurgency 2014, but faster paced (as guns most guns just have ironights) and with flamethrowers.

Oh, and the flamethrowers are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥ awesome!

This game contains no microtransactions, no rigged matchmaking systems, no stupid grinding, and no other forms of pay to win!

It also runs in Linux, supports Steam Workshop for mods, is playable offline, and is fairly well optimized.

This game is criminally underrated!

Pay To Win... but hey it's better than Ironsight, Warface, and Hired Ops!

It has better netcode than those 3 ♥♥♥♥ games and is just more playable in generalm as long as you don't join a match with veterans who have "Prestige" guns.

Play these instead!

Completely free games, no microtransactions, no DLC, no purchases of any sort!

This game is bound to die. In fact, the other version by the same name died due to negligence between Aeria Games and Wiple Games, as well as them abusing the community.

Ironsight is not worth playing at all!

This game (and it's previous version) has all the makings of a horrible game:

- Engagement Optimized Matchmaking (puts newer players against high level veteran players in unbalanced, unfair matches to encourage them to buy stuff when they get destroyed)

- Pay To Win gear. You can buy special bullets that deal more damage, etc. You can buy special explosives that can automatically kill someone for you without you actively trying to kill someone. You can buy lootboxes that have guns that have boosts on them.

- Gambling mechanics. Yep, there's the surprise mechanics aka lootboxes! You pay, you loose your money and get nothing nice in return... unless you are the luckiest person on earth! Oh, and they're more expensive in this game than in a lot of other games. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ all around!

- Predatory progression. The cancer of modern gaming! You must unlock everything by playing for thousands of hours, or pay up! This really only hurts new players (as they only get lousy, barebones guns while the veterans are fully kitted out with things like "detector sights" that highlight enemies bright red like an ESP hack). That's a P2W tactic, especially when combined with the unfair matchmaking. The repair system just reinforces this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ progression by taking away the very little in-game credits you have earned.

- Trash netcode. Ever since this game was in early access (even before the Steam releases) this game has always had the worst netcode known to man/womankind! If you see someone who is "cheating" it might actually just be the bad netcode and desync that makes it appear that they are using a "wallhack". This game is that bad!
The only ones who don't seem to be affected so much by the horrible netcode are the veterans... hmmm I wonder why... oh that's why... the smart players who saw all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ P2W mechanics and horrible netcode left the game, leaving only the hardcore shills left over!

- Cheaters. Despite the trash netcode above, there are still plenty of cheaters. One common cheat is to remove recoil from the guns using scripts, the other common cheats are to use wallhacks and radar hacks. There's a quite a few people saying that there aren't cheaters, but it's very obvious there are cheaters when you see someone killing you with a flick without having even seeing you in the first place.

- Bad developers/moderators. They'll ban you if you criticize the game. They are corrupt as fnck! They do not care about you, they only want your money. The developers are not just greedy, but also incompetent! This game has bad netcode as explained earlier, but also lots of bugs. I had to do a lot grinding for tons of hours just to unlock a gun, but then later it would just disappear out of my inventory upon logging in to my next session. Did I ever get the gun back from support? NO! All they told me was they couldn't find any record of having bought the gun.

- Toxic community. Above all else, a lot of the community (particularly veterans) defends the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ practices and will harass newer players (especially if the new players complain about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of the game). Veterans love to pubstomp new players and ruin the game for them, despite the game giving them every advantage.
Some of them are "smurfing" as well (basically creating a brand new account just to play against newer players more so they can destroy them, despite having already spent hundreds or thousands of hours in game).
They're only here to go on ego trips and make fancy videos for YouTube so they can get ad revenue and special treatment from the devs and mods.
A lot of idiots have said that this game needs more publicity, but honestly it already had a ton of chances! This game was promoted by a number of large YouTubers, to which this game saw a huge spike of players (that overloaded the servers at times) before they lost the majority of them because of the ♥♥♥♥ that was just described earlier in this review.

- SCAMS. Lastly all players of this game lost their progress and purchases! During the shutdown of the Aeria Games version, they did not migrate the progress of players. The incompetent developers said they couldn't migrate progress because of GDPR, but that is honestly a lie! All they would have to do is offer an optional account linking feature to migrate one's progress and purchases to the Wiple Games version. This would result in no violation of GDPR, as it doesn't automatically collect user data without intervention. Other game have done this to great success, but as greedy as the developers are they just saw an oppurtunity to lie and scam players out of stuff they paid for so they they could potentially exploit them into paying again. It's ♥♥♥♥ and this practice should be punished! The reason the Aeria Games version was shut down is because Wiple and Aeria had some internal company issues. We were told that Aeria violated contract agreements, but really something seems SUS here.
The end result is that veteran players would be forced to start over as a level 1 player in the Wiple Games version, basically making the "smurfing" problem worse!

If I had one good thing to say about this game, it's that it was "F2P", unlike Call Of Duty which this game is a near direct ripoff of. Both this game and Call Of Duty have similar dis-qualities like Engagement Optimized Matchmaking, Predatory progression, and P2W mechanics. They biggest difference is that Call Of Duty demands you pay $60 fncking dollars every year upfront on a new title before they can exploit you for more cash.

EDIT: Venice Unleashed fixes some of the issues below! If you aren't using it, then the old review still applies.

Venice Unleashed brings the following improvements:

- No more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ progression system! Now the playing field is more fair for everyone. No new player gear disadvantage! No Pay To Win unlock packs needed. No broken achievements to deal with for unlocks. You get everything!

- Now you can ditch the ♥♥♥♥ that is Battlelog! There's an in-game server browser, and it just works! You don't need Origin running to launch the game either (You still need to have it install and log into the game with your Origin account to verify you own the game though.)

- High Tick Servers! Better hit registration.

- Mod support! Potentially offline single player bots in future, just like Battlefield 2 had way back in 2005! Yay! :)

Venice Unleashed is the only way I'd recommend playing this game. It's ♥♥♥♥♥ good, and makes this game a recommended item from me... otherwise hell no!

Old Review:

This game is not worth getting if you're a new player.

You will be heavily disadvantaged by having very few guns, let alone attachments... that is unless you go down EA's "Pay To Win" route by purchasing the unlock kit DLC.

Some items aren't really even unlockable anymore because players don't play certain modes, ect.

Many veteran players are going insane against the influx of newer players. You can join servers and see some teams are full of all the veterans, while the other team is mostly newer players. Poor sportsmanship and toxicity galore!

This game requires Origin, and also requires launching from your internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi, ect.) using the Battlelog website!

If you hate Origin, do NOT buy this game. Buy Battlefield: Bad Company 2 instead. It does not require Origin and it has a built-in server browser.

If you are fine with the above issues, then the game is alright. It's somewhat more realistic than most other first person shooters, with better weapon balance and realism, fall damage, suppression of enemies with gunfire, but all the while keep a relatively faster paced feel (unlike Arma 3). Oh the game runs better than Arma 3 as well.

Not a lot of players. Seems to have a lot of hackers though for the few players that there are.

Graphics are simple and really crisp though and this game is free so go ahead and try it if you want.

Great game. I would buy more copies if I had the money... and that I might do and run a giveaway on my channel! This game is almost everything I want in a FPS game. Realism, but not so boringly slow paced. Well optimized, so I can run it on ultra on a budget gaming laptop (I've even heard of people playing it on Intel HD Graphics with a playable framerate on lower settings.). It even ran on my 2008 13 inch UnibodyMacBook (albeit not super smoothly)... now that's some decent optimization. BTW, this game has a mostly non-toxic community.

If this was released this year in 2020, this would be my pick over Squad or Insurgency: Sandstorm for Game Of The Year! It's seriously that good. Then for Labor Of Love, I would of chose Warframe again if that was allowed, but unfortunately it's not... so this game will just have to be my official nomination for the Labor Of Love award for 2020!

This game has no pay to win, no gambling, no engagement optimized matchmaking, no predatory grinding, no DLC, no microtransactions, no "games as a service" type ♥♥♥♥, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

You basically own the game, and have the ability to play offline and host your own servers. There is no better modern themed (if you want World War 2, there's Day Of Infamy which is from the same developers NWI) FPS game on Steam!

This is over 10,000 times better than that modern AAA ♥♥♥♥ people play called "Call Of Duty".
