Great game :) I personally play it solo. You pretty much play it for for enjoyment of gameplay or to collect cosmetics. I highly recommend it.

Honestly I feel that this game is a bit over-hyped. For a free game, it shows alot of polish and some decent character development but that's about it. I didn't feel that the story or the ending was clever. Other story-based games do it better.

It was a overall enjoyable experience however a total of 3 puzzles (from Framed 1 & 2 together) were so hard and mind-numbing (you had to reuse same pictures multiple times) that I couldn't beat them without having to look up a step-by-step guide on youtube, the other puzzles were enjoyable. The story was very minimalistic and mediocre but if you like puzzles, you will probably enjoy this game.

The story is boring. The puzzles are boring and the game can have a gamebreaking bug which won't allow you to keep playing the game. Whatever the price, it's not worth it if the game is not working.

What a unique and brilliant idea. Love this game. Haven't seen a single troll or a mean comment!

Smashing bear fun!

What's it like?
Ever wanted to be a giant bear who is on a powertrip? This is your chance.

Gameplay
Gameplay is smooth, simple as fun. You get to step on houses, smash up cars and wreck the world. You unlock new destructive abilities by collecting and using mutantpoints that laying around on the map.

Controls
WASD to move, QE for superpowers, mouse to aim and smash, space to jump.

Difficulty
There are multiple difficulty modes. The game will be more challenging as you progress to higher levels. You take damage from enemy shots, landmines and some explosions etc. Health is regenerating. You have to restart the level if you die.

Progression
In order to progress to next level you have to complete the previous level. You have to reach a certain score by destroying things and go to a checkpoint to complete a level.

Graphics
The world is low-poly and bright. It makes me happy.

Options
You can remap keybindings. It's possible to turn off bloom, vsync, post processing and have various other options.

Sound
Effects are neat (for example explosions have nice a fat bass sound) and music is silly and very fitting to the game.

Pros
Fun gameplay, smooth movement, enough content for the money.

Cons
Some of the levels feel rather large with downtime without action that you have to spend on traveling from one spot to another.

Value
This game has enough content to warrant the asking price and is worth buying.

Good game. Story was decent and I personally found some of the puzzles quite hard and had to follow a guide. I would say the story and setting are games strongest points.

Short review:

One of the best match-3 games on the market. Plays well and looks good. The replay value is high. Gems of War shines in PVE where you can experience a simplistic and funny story, expand your kingdom, unlock different units and weapons. PVP is mainly a way to earn money or climb ranks with a guild. It is possible to unlock everything without spending money or pay to increase in-game progression pace.

Long review:

I have played Gems of War for roughly 700 hours. I started the game with the expectation to find an experience that is relaxing, which this game is - it's relaxing.

I will focus on what I find good and bad about the game and answer to a few points I've noticed in other reviews.

The good:
  • The game looks good (in-game art looks really great, gems look good too)
  • It's free (I've tried out different games of the same genre, this is by far my favorite and it is free)
  • Has high replay value (collecting different weapons, armors, creatures add different layers to gameplay. Different creature combos, home kingdom, weapons etc play out differently.)
  • Constantly updated (I've played the game roughly from November of 2014, within that time there have been multiple updates, adding creatures, features, weapons etc)
  • Good customer service by the company who produced the game (they answer fast and solve the problem)

The bad:
  • The account information is partially stored in your computer. When I bought a new PC and logged on to my steam account and launched the game, my account was gone. I emailed customer support, as it appears the account information is partially stored on your computer (they had a copy though). They sent me the needed files, told me where to place them and did that within 24 hours. So all in all, while annoying, the problem was solved quickly and well.

Misconceptions about this game I have read in other reviews:
  • "It's pay to win."
If you pay, you get the chance to get in-game items (such as souls which are used to upgrade creatures, armor, creatures, gold) faster.
So essentially there are pay to win elements here. However you can get EVERYTHING without spending a cent, but you have to spend more time in the game (like in league of legends or hearthstone).
  • "I get too little gold. Developers are forcing me to buy gold."
I am level 70 and I haven't encountered a single time I've ran out of gold to do matches. How to achieve this? Don't waste all of your gold. Learn the game mechanics. I win most rounds and I can continue playing PVP nonstop.
  • "Enemy has overpowered legendary creatures. I don't. I can't win."
Play the PVE campaign. All towns are easily unlockable. Many towns unlock strong creatures. Use them. Use gold to buy creatures. You also get in-game keys within battles, you get legendary creatures there as well. While legendary creatures are strong, there are many strong non-legendary creatures.

How to increase gold gain?
Unlock more kingdoms. Complete all quests in kingdoms. Read about in-game tactics. Buy an armor. Join a guild. Optionally you can log in daily. Get better at the game. Win more games.

How to increase soul gain?
Buy an armor. Join a decent guild. Finish all town challenges.

How to get in-game armors?
Join a decent guild. You get gems for upgrading your guild with gold.

How to get op creatures?
Join a decent guild. You get keys for upgrading your guild with gold. Finish all town quests.
