A story wrapped in a cute aesthetic with the tale of trauma, family dynamics, sociological issues, religion, and even the disdain of others. It’s not what I expected going in, but for that I’m grateful.

Arctic Awakening has my recommendation with some caveats. If you’re into the walking sim genre, if you love a great story and in this case, mystery, above all else then pick it up. Because while I took issue with the gameplay side of things, I thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of seeing what happens next. I personally pushed through one episode a night to close out my day and it was lovely.

I’ve never been so torn. On one hand Herdling is reminiscent of a game from ThatGameCompany or Giant Squid with the Okomotive flavor that has become their prominent style found in the Far series, and I mean this with the highest of compliments. But on the other hand it has technical issues and an abysmal control scheme that nearly broke me.

Cute characters, a unique art style, interesting mechanics I haven’t seen elsewhere, and just utterly charming. Unfortunately it’s all over so quick, with no chance to really explore everything it put on display. If Ruffy and the Riverside taught me anything it’s that we need more collect-a-thon’s, and I’d welcome a sequel with an expanded runtime to fully delve deeper into what was presented here. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Ruffy and the Riverside, despite its shortcomings!

Just over 3hrs, currently in Chapter 2, and I absolutely adore the game so far. It’s like a breath of fresh air just being able to explore, with no restraints and discover this world and characters at my own pace. Can’t wait to get back to playing it!

Easy recommendation if you’re looking for something to get lost in and relax.

I cannot recommend this game at all in it's current state. Me and my friend just beat it, and we just got more and more aggravated the more we played. Multiple "fatal crashes" from us both. If your co-op partner crashes mid-level there's no rejoining, you either need to restart or the other player has to beat it alone. We didn't get achievements for half the game because they were broken on launch. Multiple instances of the music cutting out, the enviorment just not loading assets, awful combat and hit detection. Game is touted as a co-op game, but my friend didn't get any of the upgrades I bought even though the currency is a shared pool. Plus having to wait for the other player to do certain things to traverse the environment because only one player can use them at a time. Or only giving one power up/ability and having to wait for another to respawn for Player 2 to grab.

Sorry I'm rambling, but we just beat the game right now after pure will to see it through to the end, and I'm just so frustrated with my entire experience. Deep down there's fun to be had here and potential. But it is nowhere near worth your money in it's current form.

Stay far away.

So let me get this out the way, yes only 2 hrs, but it was enough time to perfect all the normal levels in World 1 (theres only 2 worlds currently for single player.)

Game is undoubtedly fun, frustrating, but fun! That being said I cannot recommend this game, as much as it pains me to say.

Here's why: the game is currently $16 on sale, $20 when at full price, which I believe it a perfect price marker for this type of game. That being said, it also comes with a $10 BattlePass (which has all the unlocks, theres no other unlocks just by playing the game) on top of this there is also $40+ of microtransactions.

Yes, theyre all cosmetics, but the fact that you have to pay $20 normally, just to be gated off from all the cosmetics to customize your car unless you spend more money, whether that be the pass or the mtx. It's ok if they want a battle pass or mtx, but then the game needs to be F2P
