I'm going to probably be the minority here of people who are reviewing this game who aren't just parents blindly handing this off to their kids to shut them up over quarantine.

This game is broken and unbeatable. It has been for years with no patches in sight.

If you wanna purchase this game to have a scale model of disneyland to walk around, by all means its got that nailed down. However trying to actually accomplish anything in the game, be it an attraction or just collecting the hundreds of collectibles and secrets is a dice roll on whether or not it was playtested properly. Pirates of the Carribean is miscoded and unfixable. Jungle Cruise has a fatal error half way through. Several attractions are unable to be 100%ed due to objectives not being translated from kinect properly.

Honestly this game is like buying a car and finding out it has no engine. Sure you have a pretty chassis, but all its good for is sitting there and looking nice.

This game shouldn't be bought. It shouldn't even be on Steam with how broken it is. And I regret spending all the time I did attempting to bugfix because now I can't refund it. Oh well. Learn from my mistakes.

The funniest thing about this game is when the survivors lose (Which is a rarity, games usually average about 2 escapes and 2 deaths) the killer will, without fail, be called a camper.

Which is funny because as the killer you're only job is to take survivors to a point and prevent other suriviors from stopping the countdown. Isn't it the killer's job the protect the point to ensure a kill and thus thin the numbers? Its not like me camping is unstoppable. In fact it makes it easier for you to charge a generator if you know where I am.

But nah. Camping bad. Meanwhile the survivor that plays ring around the rosie with a rock is a solid a pro tactic. Put him on the highlight reel.

tl;dr This game is wicked fun, especially with friends, and the community is so strangely uppity, its hilarious.

Why arent more people talking about this game? Its Nuclear Throne, its Gungeon, its Isaac, all wrapped up in a gorgeous artstyle with excellent presentation. If the devs work on pumping it bloated and chunky with tons of content over time, it'll sit up there on a rouge-like throne

Like most of Edmund's more recent works, it was shat out as fast as possible, hoping for viral marketing and abandonded as soon as it didn't take off. Such a shame to see such a great developer release such consistent crap, pun intended. At this rate we'll never see Mew-genics, and I'm kind of glad about that.

If you're curious whether or not you should buy it, its has the depth of a free to play phone match-three grid game. It crashes constantly, and its entire content library can be seen in a few days. For a successor to Isaac's world and feel, it feels like comparing a pebble to a skyscraper.

Don't buy it. No matter how steep the price drops. Fingered will get you more fun for your buck and Edmund literally put out that game in 24 hours.

Despite being fresh into early access theres already a ton to do. With better alien planets than No Man's Sky and an already lengthy tech tree, you'll be playing for hours before waiting for the next update

So, I'm sure you've had bad ♥♥♥♥ about this game so let's talk about it.
Is this game free to play? Yes.
Does this game have a cash shop? Yes.
Does this game have difficulty spikes? Yes.
Are these difficulty spikes easily passable if you spend money? Yes.
However is the game meant to be played like this? No.

Let's get into it. For real life money, you can undo any death and resume with full health essentially negating any challenge in the game to wallet conauming trial and error. However, if you play like this, the game is going to be over in a few hours and you will have experienced next to none of what it has to offer. Instead, when you die, you can level up a new character (which takes a few hours at worst), upgrade your armor, explore side routes for secrets including better blueprints and rare materials, eventually working your way back to where you died, recovering your old character, overcoming whatever obstacle killed you, and thus progressing even further than you had before.

In truth, this is how most rougelikes work, having to start over and learn from your mistakes. The faxt that you can bypass this with money is what gives the game a bad rap. However, this also means you really necer have to. I'm about halfway through the primary game and I've never once felt like I HAD to spend money to progress. It's always an option, the easy way out, but it's not the way the game was meant to be played.

At the end of the day, if this game cost 20-30 dollars, and removed its revive system, no one would complain. It would be seen as a charming Dark-Souls-like roguelike rpg with challenging, complex, and memorable gameplay. However, since it has a cash shop, and a way to bypass any and all fun and challenge, it's everyone's favorite thing to love to hate.

My suggestion: Try it out for yourself. And remember, even when it asks you if you wanna spend money, you don't have to. It's a rougelike. The challenge is frustrating, but with perseverance, you'll overcome, and still keep your wallet intact.

Give it a shot if you have the money. It may have had a rocky release but between incredibly quick and efficient bug-fixes, massive content updates, and a formal apology for said rocky release, this game has become everything it's promised and more. It still has a little trouble with AMD cards but as of the time of writing this there has been two patches in the last two days consecuatively that have helped with this issue more and more.

Nefarious is a very short, sweet experience.

Let me just start by saying I love what this game set out to do. I've been wanting something like this since I first started gaming as a child. Sure there's plenty of games where you played a badguy, but never before have you felt like THE VILLAIN. Princess in tow, Hero on your heels, running a life of crime from a flying fortress. And Nefarious delivers. Its concept, design, idea, and even style is top notch. However the game is far from perfect.

Where Nefarious suffers a lot is in the gameplay standpoint. Now, its really hard to rate this because I've never felt this way about a game's gameplay before. How do I phrase this properly?
I love the gameplay, but I don't think it was perfected. The ideas are there, but it feels like there was some programming issues that were never looked at or resolved before release, possibly due to the size of the team. Jumping is floaty, and slippery, and can get stuck on things. The hit box for your punching sometimes doesn't add up. Being hit and hitting things doesn't feel right, everything just kind of rubs off eachother like two balloons.
And the sound design. WOOF. Does someone need to get fired for the sound design. Music doesn't loop properly. Sound effects for things as basic as footsteps aren't consistent. The volume is all over the place, including a boss battle in particular that has a nearly Screamer level sound byte that made me jump the first time I heard it. I had to play the fight with my headphones off, and there was no way to adjust it.

Overall, despite my gripes, the love was there. The idea was there. It just felt like the project ended up bigger and more complicated than the team had planned for, and some unfortunate things had to be rushed or cut.

I would love to see this game get a sequel, where the gameplay is trimmed up, improved, and expanded upon, and the story is pulled to a much larger perspective. I would fund the ♥♥♥♥ out of that.
