Shantae has always been a hidden gem, with the return of Risky Revolution now being the definitive entry point if you are new to the series (unless they remake the first game). It doesn't do anything too special to make it stand out from the rest and has some confusing level design in some areas, but it absolutely has all the foundations of what makes a Shantae game... Shantae. Unique Charm, Great music, Self-aware Humour(+fan service) and yes, Half-Genie Girl Platforming.

Pretty much what everyone has said ad nauseam at this point, honestly disappointing since the gameplay at its core is surprisingly good for what it is, this version just handled miserably by SEGA.

My personal issues lie in the awful controller support, messy UI, and yes, gacha very bad. I've played my fair share of them too, but why does this have the 50/50 system AND practically non-existent soft pity with poor pull economy?

Do try to stay away from this, and just play the actual good Persona games (P3 Reload, P4 Golden, or P5 Royal) instead... at least not-Chie Satonaka was in this one.

you can get into looney tunes-level comedy situations and suffer from the most horrifying thing imaginable all in the span of a few minutes... or even simultaneously.

One of the golden remnants of the flash game era of the internet, I still remember when EBF 3 came out in 2010 and it was phenomenal for what it was. This is no different and is even better than it's predecessors.

Aside from the story, it's an excellent game that improves on many things from it's predecessor: "the Rabi-Ribi incident".
The combat system and movement are incredibly satisfying, and the devs have fixed many issues since it's initial release (such as those extremely cursed mazes).

Give it a shot if you are new to the "Bullet Hell" genre, or just want a damn good feeling platformer.
