This game didn't seem like anything I would actually be interested in, but it had glowing reviews so I picked it up on a heavy discount and it sat in my library for like 2 or 3 years without me touching it. Finally picked it up today and once I started I couldn't stop, finished the game in a single sitting. The colors, design, and music are all inspired, the whole project is clearly a work of love and worth every cent.

This is just Halo 3 but worse. There is precisely 0 innovation here, this game is pure re-tread. If I wanted to play Halo 3 I could just... play Halo 3. And it would be better than this.

Let me preface this by saying that the Rimworld base-game is an amazing value and is absolutely worth your money. Just... not right now.

The modding scene for this game is extremely extensive and full of interesting content. In my opinion, the best experience you can have in this game is with a heavily modded build. The problem is that every time the Ludeon pushes out a new update, it breaks most mods, often breaking your save file as well even if you wait for all the mod authors to update their mods.

I was very excited when Rimworld went to 1.0, because I assumed that after a few months, all the mods would be updated to the 1.0 version and I would no longer have to worry about game updates breaking my builds. Unfortunately, Ludeon continues to push out small and relatively meaningless updates every few months, breaking everything. In addition, they've also released 2 incredibly overpriced and low-effort DLC's, the content of which is pathetically simplistic and low-effort when compared to the huge number of intricate and game changing mods available for free.

I would have SO many more hours in this game than I do currently, but every time I check on the state of the modding community, half of the mods are broken and in the process of updating to the newest mini-update. And even if you do get a working build put together, it's only a matter of time until the next mod-busting update comes out and ruins all your progress. It's basically the exact same issue as when Skyrim updates the Creation Club store and breaks SKSE.

I will happily pick up this game again once Ludeon stops messing with it. Currently, the community has surpassed the dev in terms of content, and I would really appreciate if Ludeon would just get out of the kitchen.

Used to be able to run this game fine. For the last 2 years however, performance has just gotten worse and worse, and now the game crashes within minutes of starting a match, no error logs or crash window, nothing. Every other game I play runs fine. There are tons of people complaining about this exact thing online, and it's just not addressed, beyond canned "have you tried reinstalling? How about de/activate the in-game overlay?" crap, all of which does nothing.

Negative review until they let you map school abilities to keys instead of mouse movements.

I can't believe this is still an issue.
