Griefers have way too much power in this game.

When the developer said that 'griefers are necessary', I strongly disagree and should be nuked out of the game but I understand it's existance. To break the monotony of an otherwise mundane cycle. Introducing mechanics to circumvent griefing is nice for a while until griefers figure out a workaround. It's making the experience worse for those who just want to play a quirky family farming sim. So instead of getting updates on civilization and moving forward in a time period, the game is stuck trying to find solutions to stop or at least reduce griefing. There's a certain poetic irony in that and I couldn't help but to laugh. The game does a great job at simulating life. I've had a wonderful experience meeting people who want to contribute and help the community grow. The amount of positivity in these players are a sight to see but the positive ends when the griefers got bored and start tearing down the entire town, which sucks. The lesson here is you simply cannot police bad apples since they will always find ways to abuse the system.

Interesting social experiment tho.

10/10 Would spawn as a wolf-bitten-Eve again.

*TLDR - Not worth the full price and since it's a physics based game, expect bugs.(Do not buy if you're fussy with the graphics). Get it on sale, best freeroam sandbox game I've played.

Full review essay:
I can't recommend this game at full price as it has many graphical issues among other things but definitely worth it on sale(Complete Edition). However, if you're looking for another JC3 experience, stay away from this game and go play that instead.

To me, this game is a huge step up from it's predecessors. Does it work 100% of the time? No. Is it fun? Absolutely! For me at least. Props to the devs for trying to push the bounderies of their creative design and their engine to the limit. And they've reached that ceiling with a number of technical problems present in the game. Hopefully, in future games they'll able to iron out the kinks.

---

I'll cut to the chase and list out what I dislike about the game first:
Cluttered UI - The map UI is very disorganized and because it doesn't let you hide icons, you're gonna be seeing everything. It doesn't help when the map is just that huge and you can't even zoom out completely.

Squad Points(grind) - You'll probably be confused with the mechanics as I was playing it the first time thanks to the poor explanation. I only figured out the mechanics after replaying the game for the second time and was able to efficiently advance the troops without wasting a single point. In fact I didn't even have to grind for them.

Air Vehicles and Motocycles - Piloting felt like it was designed for controller. There's no way to turn off the mouse acceleration. And motorcycles are a big joke.

Close Proxy Enemy Spawn - Enemies can spawn in directly behind you and can kill you instantly. I can't remember how many times I died from choppers and jet spawning right next to me because I saw them a millisecond too late. Wished they'd increase the range of where the enemies spawn in and give you ample time to react. The radio chatters do give you warning before hand but that doesn't change where they spawn.

Server connection/drm - Well this is more of Square Enix being stubborn with their SE membership bs. On the bright side, this time around you can actually properly hide that obnoxious leaderboard.

---

Things I felt indifferent:
Graphics - I'm not the kind who rates a game based solely on the graphics. To me they fine, sometimes awful and other times they're stunningly breathtaking.

Lack of infinite C4(GE-64) - I feel like giving infinite C4 in JC3, spoiled so many players. I don't remember JC2 having unlimited splosive and you had to order them to resupply. Plus in JC4, the PBX Mine Launcher is basically GE-64 x24(∞) in a gun.

Mission Structure - It's more of personal taste. I can't really comment on the structure because I had fun with them and I was able to understand them very easily. But I do agree on the fact that the game does a poor job at explaining alot of things, coupled that with the terrible UI, it can be frustrating. If you aren't the creative type, missions are gonna be excruciatingly boring.

---

Improvements from prior games:
Movement Controls - Compared to previous games, Rico feels more athletic and super agile during onfoot combat. The controls are way more fluid and so are the animation transitions. You don't even have to upgrade his abilities anymore, the game is very gracious in giving you everything from the start. However wingsuiting does feels slower. Best get the jetpack(I rarely use it since I actually prefer wingsuiting in vanilla).

Gunplay - I personally hate 3rd person shooter because of the annoying delays when aiming and shooting enemies making it for a slower and clunky combat. This game's responsiveness is something else. It's just great and satisfying, at the same time doesn't have janky animation. The guns are fun to use. There's also secondary fire mode. Most of them shoot grenades/explosive rounds, some have autotargeting and special ones can deploy drones that can fight enemies for you. With the rabid AI swarming from every angle, combined with the fluid movements system, it really feels like playing a fast paced 3rd person shooter. It may be annoying to some people but I really like hectic combat.

Supply Drop - JC2 was kind of frustrating where you have to sit through cutscenes(you can skip it but still) everytime you want a supply drop, worse when you can only order 1 item at a time. JC3 improved it by allowing you to put multiple orders in a single supply drop and can order as many as you like...so long as you have the beacon. JC4 pretty much have infinite supply drop but on a cooldown. And you can control where you want the drop be and at any angle you want it to face.

Cars - The only vehicle type they managed to properly improve on and it feels just as great to drive in JC4. Personally my favourite is the one they advertised(Coyle Mambo muscle car) to me the handling is fantastic, it has the right amount of weight, looks great, sounds great and best of all, drifting in that car is just satisfying compared to other cars. Also radio. I actually enjoy most of the music.

Weather System - Funny how Mad Max was the reason I got into JC series in the first place with it's brutal weather system. Here, it may not be as beastly as I'd hope for(albeit underused) but they are still great. I'm surprized even with the insane amount of destruction happening, the game still manages to hold on and not crash. And lightning storms(and lightning gun) are great little sidekicks to have when fighting enemies.

Open World Exploration - It's much more tranquil wingsuiting across the diverse biomes in JC4 than in JC3 and I can't put my finger on as to why. Some say it's baron(and boring) which is true I guess in some cases but I like what they were trying to do with the exploration mechanic by giving you this mini treasure hunt where you search for secret tombs that are spread all over the island.

Miscellaneous things I like:
Story and Characters - I like them. I was skeptical at first, thinking they were going to throw away the lighthearted tone of the previous games in favor of serious and 'grounded' boring ones. They're still silly and self aware, to me they feel more 'down-to-earth' than serious. (However this is the least of your concern in a game where the primary goal is to blow the f* out of everything)

Music and Sound Design - I think the music in JC4 is severely underrated. I really like them since they are in the same vein of what I used to listen to which are progressive[electro/trance], synthwave and D&B. And I just love the robust sounding percussions. What can I say, I love drums. While JC2's Glory of Panau is iconic(and unrivaled) and JC3's 'feel good vibe' constant presence, JC4 is adrenaline pumping and really suits the game's tone, chaotic. What's even better is they brought back Rico's theme which is nostalgia to the core. The sound design in JC4 is also top notch.

---

DLC Missions
Daredevils of Destruction - It's alright. Mostly destruction derby and racing. Cutscenes oddly use JC3 Rico instead of JC4.

Los Demonios - This one gave me vibes from Blood Dragon zombie trials. If you dislike hectic combat in the main game, you're gonna hate this dlc. To me, it's so much fun. Also OP crossbow.

Danger Rising - It's fantastic. Adds more JC story and lore, reintroduce the liberation system, fast and resilient enemies, clever design(grinding on cable is a neat form of 'hacking'). And Hoverboard!

I have 200+ hours(off-steam) and personally, this is my favourite JC title thus far. Even with all it's flaws, I still appreciate what it was trying to be. Had it given more time to polish, this game would've been THE Just Cause game.

2 things that kept me playing this game. Awesome soundtrack and gorgeous level design. Gameplay wasn't as challenging as the originals however the combat is extremely fluid and very smooth. Just wished the boss fights were more varied from each other. Everything else was alright, cool cinematography. All in all, it's still really fun to play.

Beautiful homage to the classic Tomb Raider. The only down side is that it's too short.

Best stealth game I've ever played. 8 playthroughs and I'm still able to find something new.

The game doesn't really hold your hands when it comes to carrying out objectives. You are free to choose your own path and explore at your own free will be it in stealth or wreck havoc all over the city, it's your choice.

High replayability - Check
Tons of fun - Check
Gets to be the bad guy - Check
Be drop kicked by Sam Fisher - Check (There's an achievement for that too)

Microtransaction - Removed

Congrats Overkill for owning the franchise again and listening to the community is very much appreciated.

Regardless of Microtransactions or not, this game is amazing. I'm that person to ignore the mere existance of microtransaction because it doesn't effect how I play. So you have stat boost on both primary and secondary...big deal, you're in custody anyway.

DLC wise, some are good, some are meh, and some just don't make sense. Just get the ones that are useful or Heist DLCs if you want to host a game.

Just get good and you'll be aced. Seriously, why aren't you playing this?
