I've played through this once so far and it was a lot of fun. I played it a lot over a weekend and kind of burnt myself out, but I know I'll go back to it sometime. There's something about Roguelites such as this, that when you're finished, you feel both accomplished and a little relieved that you made it to the end in one piece. It's part of the whole fun, but it also causes burn-out for me for whatever reason; I think it's the prospect of starting fresh after gaining so much that causes this.

The story is good, though I will admit I did skip dialog after a while because the real fun for me was in the combat mechanics, which are actually quite challenging. Ahh the combat, it's a deckbuilder / card battler which you'll either love or hate - I fall into the prior category so it was a good purchase for me. I like that there's two flavours of "combat"; some enemies can be won over through diplomatic means using argument cards, whilst others you will have to battle with combat cards.

All in all it's fun and I'd recommend it if you're into deckbuilding / roguelite games.

I'm a bit critical when it comes to "remastered" games, seeing them as a money-grab in most cases. However, I have to give credit to EA and every other party involved; despite EA destroying Westwood studios in the 90's, they've really done a service to the C&C series with this remaster.

The music is amazing and suited perfectly to the gameplay, remastered by the OG Frank Klepacki.

The remastered textures are a huge improvement and breathe new life into these games without losing the charm and feel of C&C; all the units, structures etc. in higher res look how I imagined they would in my head when I was a kid - think filling in the gaps of missing detail, rather than re-skinning.

I'm about 10 missions deep into the NOD campaign after a couple of hours played, and it's every bit as much fun being the "bad guys" as it was when I was a kid.

I can't say much about the multiplayer as I haven't given it a whirl yet - admittedly I bought this mostly to relive my childhood by playing through the campaigns, and for what I paid it's been 100% worth it so far.

I highly recommend this remaster to anyone who loved this series prior to Westwood Studios' demise. Equally, it's a great opportunity for younger people to try out a genre-defining RTS that got the ball rolling for a generation of gamers and find out what all the fuss is about.

Next up, Red Alert 2 please.
