If you want to enjoy the content of this game properly

BUY THE DLC

you can have fun without it, but accept that ftp D2 is basically a demo.
D1 wasn't ftp and never has D2, and Bungie are fully within their rights to ask you to buy the game if you're playing ftp

outside of the DLC nothing else requires you to spend money on the game
