Early Access Review
While still clearly in quite early access, I think Brighter Shores has a great foundation to grow into a great game. Disclaimer though, that it's clearly building on Runescape as a base - if you don't like that game, if you aren't thrilled at the idea of chopping trees for potentially hours at a time to get your level up, I don't think you'll have much fun with it. For people who DO like that kind of game, though, I think this is the successor to Runescape we've all been waiting for.

Bought this thinking the idea sounded fun, only to find out that you can't play it online. If it were just a lack of resources from a small independent team I'd be able to understand that, but learning that the reason for this is just because the devs think "couch co-op is better so we don't want to support online" just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

This game has an interesting (if somewhat cliché) premise, but the game as it stands is way too buggy and unfinished-feeling to be worth playing.

The game is very laggy, even on my gaming PC, and I can't tell why. Nothing in the game is graphically complex at all. There are two separate options in the game's menu that restart the game, and there is no save functionality, so if you hit them by accident you have to replay the entire game from the start. The game has no graphical options, so you can't run the game in a window or disable the static filter that covers everything.

Gameplay is also very flawed. You have to examine everything in the environment to make progress, but no attention is drawn to the things you have to examine - I got stuck for a while because there was a poster in the arcade I hadn't looked at, and soon after, I got stuck because I hadn't opened my inventory and examined an item I found. This wouldn't even be so bad if there were some indication of when things had changed and you knew when you'd found everything and could move on.

Overall, I think the game has potential, but it needs some heavy work before it's ready to be played.

'Twas an intriguing experience for me, using this. It was a royal pain because I didn't know coding at the time. By far the hardest part is the first 5-20 minutes with it, trying to get the hang of the basics. Once you've got that down, though, you should be fine. It's quick, it's simple, easy enough to learn... Only thing you need to know is that you should DEFINITELY watch a tutorial first to see if this is something you could figure out. Overall, if you're a hobbyist like me who makes games solely for the fun of it, I'd recommend this for you.
