Beautiful. Lots of interaction that rewards people who go out of their way without punishing the people who don't. Got it working on Linux using default Proton. Runs perfectly.
My advice: Start small, hop into an expedition/quest, try the various weapons. The rest will come to you naturally.

This game might be too awesome. Way too many awesome ways to play it. I'm at a loss for words. Exceeds expectations. More positive praise etc.

Early Access Review
Fraud. They ended this game and, in return to buyers like myself, who aren't qualified for a refund by definition, I'll get some other crap from them INSTEAD of this game. Please DON'T buy. This is a failed game and the developer has admitted it.

I actually recommend this game if you can get an older copy of it. The current Steam version is botched beyond belief. I played the PS2 and Classic PC versions of the game and neither had this many issues. They changed quite a bit here and introduced bugs. The old version had bugs but they were so minor. These new bugs are debilitating (e.g. Mouse doesn't move unless you move it really fast; it also randomly stops working unless you pause/unpause a lot to workaround the problem).

CS:GO Review
Been playing since 1972. My grandkids don't understand what eco rounds mean so I've disowned them. 10/10

There's nothing like this game so I'm not sure what games to compare it to. I got absolutely addicted to it. The community has tons of mods that are as good as official expansion packs. Even unmodded the game is amazing.

Watch a gameplay video on YouTube to see what it's really like.
You basically manage an army. The major factors of your army are listed:
  • source(s) of income
  • troop composition
  • leader stats
  • companions
  • morale
  • health
Based on the above factors, your army will be more or less powerful and fit for certain activities. Are you big and slow or fast and small? Can you defend? Can you raid? Can you chase and capture? What's the upkeep cost? How long can you be deployed before having to turn back for food?

Additionally, you generally start off with a source of income depending on who you align with. If you choose to be a woman you'll have a bit of a rough start but there are advantages, specificially to being a woman. You will seek to increase the quality and quantity of your sources of income by becoming a lord of villages, castles, and cities. If you're clever about it you can create a huge kingdom with many lords working under you. Whether or not you're king you can sort of dive into the politics or just brute your way around (I generally choose the latter). The more you have the more your enemies try to take. If you leverage your hired troops and lords properly to defend your income sources then you won't have to worry nearly as much.

Lastly, there are a few other fun things to do when you want to take a break from the war and politics. The arena is hilarious and not a bad way to make a bit of money if you're successful at it.

I ammended my review. I give it a thumbs up after modding it. I recommend AGAINST any non-PC version of this game; the mods available to PC vastly improve the experience and give you opportunities to eliminate grinding and repetitive tasks. Game is super nice now even if there's lots of room for improvement; the stupid "Milestone Reached" cutscene cheese still piss me off for example.

Listed below are a few good Nexus mods I'd strongly recommend for vastly improved quality of life (not in Steam Workshop):
1. Big Stacks; expand your inventory stacks 1000X
2. Reduced Launch Costs (pick the "no launch cost" version)
3. Fast Actions

4+ Visual mods to suite your tastes. Careful they don't crash your game.
