One of the OG's and one of the greats. A number of interesting additions this time around compared to civ 5. Going for districts get you great people who help give you a bunch of goodies. Policies give you static boosts that you can make better and better over time with the help of wonders or new forms of governance to increase your number of slots. These are flexible and can be changed which means being able to adapt to your circumstances. Other than that mostly the same old civ, though I do love the voicework of the narrator as you gain tech.

Great great game. Simply basic concept, explore a world full of monsters. Catch new monsters to gain access to new areas.

Build teams that synergize with each other (stack fire, or bleed, or buffs to amp your own damage, stack debuffs or shields, or have multiple ways of regaining hp to stay in the fight). There's also a weakness/resistance system baked in, but instead of specifically an elemental type it can also be physical attacks or magical attacks, meaning that building a diverse team is key. Build out additional combo pieces with your equipment, or fill in gaps in your stats to support yourself that way. You won't be able to max out the skill tree so pick your monster upgrades thoughtfully, but know that if you make a mistake you can always respec. Partway through the game you'll also unlock a like/dark system which provides additional upgrades to existing monsters.

Even after the end of the game there are still more legendary boss fights to track down and challenge with your end game team. If you're still jonesing for more even after all of that the game includes a new game+ mode. Additionally they've already added free new content (think paid expansions from other games) and may continue to do so?

I have only good things to say about this game. Fights between zones can become a bit grindy... but I feel like that's par for the genre as you work to gain XP.

Early Access Review
If you want a dark soul's esque game this isn't for you. If you want a punishing survival experience (something more akin to ARK) then this game is also not for you. If what you want is a cozy crafting experience with light combat then you'll have a great time. I feel like in that respect it's closer to palworld than other crafting survival sandbox games.

To many reviews I read of this game were of people who sprinted to the end of it by trying to powerlevel and are now annoyed that there's not some kind of endgame content or dungeon for them to run because they're bored. I feel like they've missed the entire point of the game. The loop is, find a new realm card type, explore said realm by completing puzzles, killing creatures and harvesting materials to make better gear and then rinse and repeat. Each time you go through that loop you'll get back to your home base able to build a few new things, or rebuild existing things with different materials (and as a result different properties).

You can modify realms further with realm minor cards to make it easier to harvest things or up the intensity of combat. Or you can just make it easier to traverse by establishing permanent low gravity modes. Take your time with it. Enjoy the skyboxes. Take time to build out a beautiful permanent settlement in your home realm.

Keep in mind that it's also in early access. Things will change. More content will come. Until then you can pick up a AAA type of game for $30. Feels like it was easily worth that amount of money based on where it is now.

Game is so good. Plenty of crunchy character building. Lots of good lore to tell you how dark the imperium is (like hey, kill 100 or a 1,000 people to save a world? no sweat. Burn a world to ashes to save the system? Also totally justified). Gameplay feels good, lots of things you can do on a given turn (once you get a few levels in). I have some random nit-picky complaints like how many loadscreens there are (can we not buffer some of those?) better tooltips, better sorting for loot, and rapidfire builds not feeling quite as strong as other weapon sets. But all in all it's gold. Looking forward to a second run through. Also especially enjoy the ability to build your own custom characters for your squad or play with friends.

The bad stuff is that because it's free 2 play it's grindy. The good news is that unlike other games if you choose to spend money you know exactly what you're getting, no lootboxes or any random crap like that.

Warframe embraces absurdity. From the ragdolling of enemies with explosives to the actual arsenal you can equip which features everything from bows, railguns, machine guns, rifles, and even a microwave shotgun. Some weapons aren't even easy to categorize like a whip that can hurl explosions. To add to that you've got 53 different warframes to choose from so you can find a way of playing the game that suits you.

Over the years warframe has expanded with more and more content so it now let's you play almost any genre of game while playing warframe. The only thing that's really missing is PvP. If you like stealth, run spy missions and try to bypass security grids to extract rewards. Prefer something more straightforward? Take on a hold the point mission or just go for exterminate and see how fast you can clear enemies. Want to take the fight to space? There are archwing missions (where you're in a space suit) or command your own capitol ship (a railjack) and take the fight to the enemy.

To add to all of this there's now 5 (plains of eidolon, fortuna, deimos, the zariman and duviri) open world hubs for if you'd rather explore more at your own leisure. Take some time out to do some fishing or mining or do a hunt to capture some local wildlife for preservation. Perhaps you miss the days of tony hawk pro skater? Take a hoverboard out into fortuna and score points for styling off the terrain. Prefer erradicating things instead? Take your necramech for a spin and use it to bulldoze enemies with its arsenal.

Although warframe IS grindy, the nice thing about warframe is that each piece of gear advances individually, which means at any point in time you can be leveling your warframe, your primary, secondary, and melee weapons, plus your pet, archwing, and necramech all at the same time. All of this can be accomplished while running down objectives, either trying to clear the free battle pass (called nightwave) or while running missions to acquire new warframes and weapons.

Since it's f2p why not give it a try?

BRUH.

Fun characters and all but how the hell is this a $50 dollar game? There's arcade and online as the only options and it's missing even some of the bare minimum things you'd expect like the ability to remap your controls or even SEE what your buttons are MAPPED TO. If this were a $5-15 dollar game it would be awesome and forgettable because you'd come in expecting some rough edges but for the price of a AAA game? Please.

I guess on the upside the game feels responsive/snappy and the graphics are clean but I'm also not that impressed by the controls in general.

Fair warning. This game has a ton of bugs, which is what you should expect when you have a game this mathematically crunchy with such a large open world. So, save often and consider using toybox the toybox mod to fix things when they got wonky. Also... in my personal experience the challenge rating for enemies is all over the map. Sometimes you're way overpowered and end fights in a round and sometimes you just try to stack how many times you can attack cause you'll only hit with 20's.

All the above having been said, love this game. Lots of stupid builds that you can do to feel really really powerful. Storyline is interesting and it doesn't have overworld states where you're almost guaranteed to lose like the first game. Worthy of replays because of how many different choices you can make at several pivotal moments which effect everything from potential endgame builds (your legendary class), to companions, to even the story you spend time playing through. So, you'll certainly get lots of time spent on this game.

Allows for masterful skill expression but benefits significantly from teamwork. Sight lines and angles, in addition to controlling your distance from a target lead to a number of significant benefits as well. My only complaint? A little bit grindy. But it's a F2P so that's kind of to be expected.

Personally love the corvette's for getting away with murder, but there's also something satisfying about nuking someone using a dreadnought.
