Great game, managed to beat it within 2.5 hours. Would love to see future updates that make the progression longer, additional weapons etc.

this game...this game is tense, horrifying and trippy as hell, i was waiting for a jump scare that never came, i even turned my volume down in anticipation and when i went to alt tab the game shut down, or maybe i alt f4'ed in a "nope" moment, experience this game as it is horrific, especially if you have ever felt suicidal, its a real horror/wake up moment.

okay, i first heard about this when it cropped up on steam after a successful , a fairly short form top down twin stick controlled game, where every action you take must be considered and every pause of simple mistep leads to instant death, not that this is a bad thing, as you respawn instantly. the story (at least from the start) is not explained, but the hub world (as it is). consists of various doors that must be opened and the boss inside defeated. this is a definite buy if you like challenging, but not insurmountable challenges, i have been playing for around 25 mins so far and have beaten 3 of i believe 10 bosses.

The Graphics are definetly what i would consider retro, 16 bit esque styled, but the simplicity keeps you focused on the very fast gameplay.

death in Titan souls is not necessarily a punishment but e learning curve, the respawn times are so fast, the 2-3 seconds it takes gives you enough time to realise why you just died, then shrug it off and immediately try again. it can be a bit frustrating, but still you suck it up and really do want to try again.

The music is fantastic and fits the boss you are fighting. the overworld music is calming and yet mysterious.

also the first time the fourth boss killed me, i actually laughed out load. overall for the price, well worth it. i would recommend this to anyone, and it's very clean that the developers really cared about this game. (but when they warn that a controller is strongly recommended, they aren't kidding, I haven't tried with a keyboard and mouse but aiming the one arrow you have would be near impossible with only 8 cardinal directions.)

TL:DR: get this game, it's fantastic, cheap and a great way to kill an evening or two.

This game is fantastic, a nice mix of deckbuilding, choose your own adventure and fable/arkham style combat, the narration of the game is comes from the card dealer, a kind of forture teller character who you could refer to as your dungeon master for the game.

Other reviewers have complained about the combat style, btu having played the game since it first came out on early access I can confidently say it feels Kinetic and viceral, while allowing the player to dodge and counter easily. While the game might start out a bit easy the difficulty curve does start to ramp up as the game progresses.

The Sound design is very nice, the music in particular lends a nice fantasy feel, and does a good job of lifting the player up and making them feel good about their victories, and as previously mentioned the narrator keeps the player engaged at all times, even coming out with different remarks based on your actions that keep you wanting to push on.

The graphics are simple but look very pretty when turned up all the way, some of the small arenas may get repetitive at the start but once again the game does a good job of pacing itself, while adding new traps and environmental risks into the mix as play progresses. The actual graphics style gives me flashbacks to the slightly cartoony aesthetic of the fable series.

I have yet to finish the game, but I am over halfway through it and so far it has kept me well satisfied and the developer has already said they plan to add more content based on community suggestions and feedback.

My only bit of dissapointment would be that there is no option for changing the look of the character, even a couple of presets would be nice, hopefully now that the game is out this may be added at a future date.

In conclusion, Hand of Fate is fantastic, and if you have any quarms about paying the full near £20 for this game (which I think is a very reasonable price for a game of this quality and length) then stick it on your watch list and grab it as soon as it does, I love it!

I love this game, in my opinion of of th Best RTS Games ever made, (for the record I have not played Soulstorm) although I now might after discovering the Ultimate Apocalypse Mod. Is it perfect? no. Is it completely balanced in multiplayer? no. what it is, is fun as hell and very satisfying to play.
Dark Crusafe adds a twist to the campaign modes. Rather than following a linear path of objectives like the previous DOW and Winter assault, it throws in a Meta game where you are fighting for complete control of a Planet, which throws in tactical decisions on where to buy more support for the territory you just won or to bolster an earlier victory site. I could go on for hours, but I will simply conclude with this, if you are a fan of warhammer 40k, or just love a satisfying base building push and pull RTS, this is a game that must have a spot in your library, you are guaranteed hours of fun!
