Grand Theft Auto 4 is a great game, but it's not a good Grand Theft Auto.

To elaborate, the game just doesn't feel like all the other titles. San Andreas, Vice City, and even 5 have this certain aura to it that makes it feel like Grand Theft Auto. GTA has been a franchise that was always absurd and rambunctious, not even close to realism and kinda plain stupid. But 4 is serious. It reminds me of the games from the Mafia franchise, almost. I love Niko's character, the story is phenomenal, and the gunplay is pretty good for a game from 2008. It's just missing details that makes GTA, GTA. Hell, it doesn't even have a wasted screen, which has been in every single GTA game, EVER.

So is Grand Theft Auto 4 Better than 5? Sure. But is it a better Grand Theft Auto? No.
