This is just one of those perfect small-scale games where every couple of months, ill get the feeling and pour 10 hours into a large island-map on the hardest difficulty. It's incredible just how much fun strategically mapping out residential districts, farming blocks, industry-areas and choke points for the invading vikings can be (hint, they go for the docks!), while also making sure the flow of resources within your kingdom is streamlined. Its taken me a while to consistently succeed, and although the difficulty can be pretty unpredictable, trial and error takes you really far. For me, no other similar game scratches that specific itch of medieval city building/expansion/tower defense like this game, which is greatly served by its apparent simplicity. I can't recommend it enough :)

I would ADORE a second installment with higher scope, and I'm greatly looking forward to the creators Rome-game!

I love magic and have played it consistently for almost ten years, and I really really feel that this wonderful game deserves a much, much better treatment for digital play. The two biggest issues (for me) are the economy and the client, the economy is very likely the worst solution for digital trading card games on the market. I for one don't mind this is much as I probably should, because the amount I play arena happens to hit the sweet spot of where I can pretty consistently draft and craft a couple of decks I enjoy.

The bigger issue for me is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ client. It consistently bugs out, desyncs and crashes, honestly like no other game I have ever played in my life. The interface is unintuitive, bulky and insufferably slow . Connectivity issues have been consistent since launch, and the speed at which you navigate between the different menus and gameplay is enough to make me not want to play at all. And of course you just know Wizards are making huge amounts of money off of this, and could fix a lot of these issues should they feel like it.

Magic is incredible, and Arena is a decent way to get into it! It just sucks so bad the experience has to be this offputting.

This is without a doubt a very good game. It follows the usual open world formula but Id say it does it right. Its by not strech a perfect game and I do have certain problems with it, but I would recommend it strongly to anyone who asks.

+Super fluid fighting system (although not groundbreakingly advanced
+Absolutely fantastic voice acting, some of the best I have ever heard
+Beautiful graphics and stellar optimisation
+Some really likeable characters
+Above average additional content

------------------------------------------------------------

-Just enough content for the 13-15 hours it takes to finish it. It almost got boring towards the end.
-Some rather unbalanced mechanics
-Satisfying but not very skill-demanding combat
-The end fight(s) are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful to be honest but up till then its all great.

I recommend the game but it does undeniably have its flaws. Hella hyped for the sequel.

Look, if youre able to look beside the horrific graphics or the incredibly dumd puzzles, go ahead. Whatever. But come on. The characters look like theyre about to puke every time the talk, something which is absolutely not shown in the trailer. If this was a flash game on some website I would be okay with that, but jesus christ 10 euro for this?

The first real puzzle is litteraly solving chess problems, and they could not even make that look half decent. Its godawful and not worth my money.

Its not much, this game. But what it does it does well enough to be worth the money. The coop is not all that great as only the creator of the lobby can build and buy. The other players just kind of have to wait while the other players builds and the only weapons they get to use are the ones that the creator gives them. Otherwise its fine.

Yeaah i knew something was fishy when this game only cost 3 euro.
First of all, the graphics are amazing. Just as good as in the screenshots and when i first started the game i thought the russians who made this game mistook how much a euro was worth.
I ran around a bit, parkouring if thats what you want to call running and jumping. Then i encountered a monster. The sound of the monster was like 3x the other sounds of the game which is not a good thing. The monster was behind an iron barred fence and kind of just stood still. No standing animation or anything, just completely still. I moved i bit to the left, and so did it. Moved a bit to the right, and so did it. It follows my movements with programing so simple i longed for the refund. There was a small ledge which it had to jump over to get to me, however it couldnt. Three monsters there are in this game, and only one is interesting. The TV guy which can be seen in one of the trailers. The other monsters are a lizardman (which was the one that screeched) and a human with green eyes, both of which seem terribly out of place. Overall the graphics are amazing but the gameplay is awful. Not worth the money.
Hyped for getting my money back.

Okay, this was for me an absolute joyride. I personally recommend playing it in Narrative mode (By far easier but still challenging at times) as it felt way more.. doable. It is EXTREMELY hard. And you will die.

I recommend you keep a pen and paper with you as it does come in handy a bit later into the game. The story of the game is unique and immersing with wonderfully pulled of twists, and the characters that are introduced are all interesting and well developed. While I wouldnt say the game is very well balanced, it is still some of the most fun i have ever had.

Probably the most brutal game i have played so not for the kiddos

Also, moral of the story: Terrorism pays off

So Im rewriting this review since my 13 year old self didnt really do a great job at it.

I played Supergiant Games first game, Bastion a while after playing this one. Their games are quite similar and they both do what they aim to do incredibly well, although I must say I do like Transistor a lot more than its predecessor.

This game immidiatelly grabs your attention with its artwork and graphics. The sci-fi setting and the sleek graphics with the occational hand-drawn cutscene makes the game look absolutely breathtaking. The gameplay is also top notch. It takes Bastions simple concept and combat system and puts a grand twist to it. Bastion allowed you to upgrade your weapons while Transistor allows you to combine them, the feel of coming up with a combination of skills that both looks, feels and works great is quite the spectacle and this combined with the way combat is designed makes fighting both fun and creatively challanging.

The game is not only attributed to fantastic art, amazing gameplay and a wonderful story but also the greatest soundtrack of any game I have ever played, ever. The game is partly built around its music, and everything about how Transistor sounds is flawless. The game knows how good its soundtrack is and even occationally gives you the option to just let the main character Red put down her sword and hum to the music that played. Not once did I skip an opportunity to do so.
Also the voice acting is just like in Bastion, superb.

10/10, one of my alltime favorite games. Amazing soundtrack, top tier graphics, fantastic and innovative graphics, Supergiant Games deserves your money more than any other game studio out there.

Also play Bastion.
