as the first FNAF fangame to be officially put on Steam, POPGOES Arcade kicks serious ass and is absolutely at least worth its asking price. this game is a treasure for FNAF fans and will intrigue people casually interested in the series, especially those less interested in the current direction of the official games.

gameplay is engaging, cute, and gets more fun as it goes along. as you play you slowly build up your character like parts of a machine that functions at its peak at the end of the second campaign. while most fnaf fangames have the disadvantage of appearing to be lore-first, popgoes arcade, especially the second campaign, is very fun to play start-to-finish, if a little repetitive.

the bulk of this game may be a cute RPG with actually well thought mechanics (with a couple growing pains in the middle), but rest assured there is fuel for speculation and a couple of serious spooks (only one real jumpscare, and can even be avoided if you think before you ACT!) without the game feeling heavy-handed or flipping any logic. with faux-glitches that fit the perfect mix of intentionally designed in game but unintentional in universe, this absolutely feels like a game within a game with a real, planned out story behind the scenes backing it. this five dollar game has more interesting lore than anything that’s come out of the series since 2015.

while five nights at freddy’s might be in an unsure slump, the fanverse’s projects all look extremely promising from what we’ve seen, and i’ll be supporting (most) as much as i can, with popgoes evergreen, the upcoming successor to this game, as the frontrunner for my most anticipated fan-project of all time.

do my buddy kane a favor and buy this at full price. maybe buy another copy. this is a good game and you should download and play it- after you’ve bought it, of course.

This game is a very very good platform fighter plagued by the casual consumer misunderstanding the plagues of under-budgeted game development. The gameplay's rock solid and very, very fast, making it a very fun game to play in short bursts. With introduction of DLC, the devs seem to have learned a lot since launch and plan to polish the rougher edges over time.
While this game, currently, probably isn't worth 50 dollars plus DLC, it's definitely worth your time on a sale.
