Even though the game had one of the roughest starts I have seen, now it is actually fun to play. The only questionable decision is the price for DLCs, as currently there is little content.

This is the type of game that you don't know you need, but when you discover it, you can't help but play it and fall in love with it. It obviously applies only to few people who not only enjoy games with slow pace, detailed storyline and truly love the mythical fire breathing lizards, but also possess ability to gather pleasure from discussions and are capable of genuinely gathering some knowledge from such productions. If you fit into this niche category you shouldn't waste more time on reading this, but simply go and play it, if you do not then I am sorry to drop this upon you yet this game is just going to be a waste of your money, keep seeking elsewhere. However, if you desire to spend some more time with me, here are some prominent outstanding features of the game, as well as some slight disappointments:

Advantages:
  • Dragons - Coarse as it sounds, it definitely is something what dragged my attention to the game. I love dragons, yet have never really sought for games like such. I wouldn't expect anyone to focus on this topic and attempt to portray everything of what makes these beasts great. Focus on their greed for knowledge and treasures, desire for power and absolutely inhuman point of view, by what I mean a unique perspective. I am glad my expectations were proven to be incorrect.

  • Story - This is the most important part of games of this kind, and it was handled perfectly. You can feel how every single tiny bit of information you gather later merges together into a greater image. The balance between action, discovery and something what I am going to call grind (hunting and gathering treasures) is healthy. What is even better is the fact you can impact the balance to make it suitable for yourself. You can pick more aggressive options to increase the amount of action, discover more of the lore by discussing more with various animals and reduce or increase the amount of grind because even if hunting is necessary for you to survive, lack of treasures is something what might decrease your self-esteem, but allow you to continue the journey.

  • Mechanics - These are simply stunning. Everything is clear allowing you with ease becoming a dragon in the unknown world from the very first minutes of playing, the whole interface merges perfectly with the art and the music what allows it to provide you information like any other, yet without shattering the immersion. It would be a blunder to not mention really surprising in a good way solutions. You can face various riddles and puzzles across the game that really are thought provoking and indeed grant some satisfaction upon solution. (I highly recommend attempting to seduce Tempest, success was really mentally rewarding.) There is one flaw to be mentioned later though.

  • General Appearance - As gently mentioned earlier, the art and the music. No words to describe the beauty. Outstanding music sharing more emotions than any text could merging with perfect artstyle that hold everything together. I cannot imagine this game with any different music or art.

Disadvantages
  • Length - Even if the ratio of price to quality is outstanding, there still is the awful feeling of insatiability. The game itself is really short, depending on how fast you can read and what options do you choose you might finish it entirely within 10 hours, yet keep in mind that you cannot truly experience the game without replaying it at least once, or twice or thrice... This is going to indeed increase your time spent with the game while still truly enjoying it, yet after discovering quite literally everything what can be discovered what doesn't take longer than 15 hours, there isn't much to do.

  • Level of difficulty - This is really personal, but this game seems too easy. I am not talking about the mechanics, because these are handled gracefully, but about actual difficulty of gameplay. I comprehend that being a literal dragon instantly makes your life easier, because of how powerful of the creature you are, but even when encountering other dragons, I as a player had the feeling that my character for whatever reason is unstoppable and is greater than everyone else.

  • Permanent upgrades - After fulfilling several actions you are provided an achievement card and a specific bonus from it. These bonuses are permanent and you cannot turn them off. Same applies to the mastery of various animals, such is achieved by spending time examining creatures and gathering knowledge of them this way. Once you have achieved it there is no way to start over. You won't ever be capable of starting your adventure over again without these buffs that indeed are shattering the experience, one of the most bitter experiences across the whole game, I would really be graceful if there was a way to purge the progress.

Overall, no matter how many of disadvantages one can point out, I don't and won't ever regret playing this game, because it truly is a masterpiece. Imperfect, this is true, but nevertheless artistry on its own. I am really graceful that I have discovered this game, as it usually is with stories like this, by accident.

This game is going to have a different impact on your mentality depending on how much time you have spent playing it, in a nutshell it looks more or less like this:
  1. Mental breakdown
After you can no longer handle the toxic teammates who constantly point out how bad you are.

  2. Self anxiety
If you somehow are stubborn enough to continue playing long enough to understand that the toxic flaming wasn't actually meaningless and you indeed are terrible, even if you try your best.

  3. Crippling addiction
The moment you decide you want to actually become a good player and start attempting to become a "skilled" one, is the moment when you sign a pact which is going to consume your whole time and you cannot back away from it anytime soon.

  4. Self fulfillment
You finally achieve the dream of becoming good. This is also the moment when you realize you are a 40 year old who achieved nothing but Immortal rank in Dota, what puts you yet again at the beginning, within the mental breakdown state.
