Let me tell ya, when you set up the gamma settings just right for this game, it will make you feel really vulnerable and make the threats all the more menacing, especially if you play on the harder difficulties.
I personally recommend this game for my fellow horror junkies as 10 years later, the story and game-play still stand the test of time. Some segments of the game can straight up feel like a deadly game of hide-and-seek, which can be repetitive for some, but the build up to these parts of the game make it so you don't feel turned off by them once they arrive. The chase segments are my favorite parts of the game in my opinion as they really make you feel desperate and full of adrenaline trying to find a way to get out of the same area as the threat, whether it a unstoppable tall brute by the name " Chris " or a butt-naked doctor wielding a pair of huge scissors. The design of this game truly immerses the player into the gore-fest that inhabits the very walls of the Mount Massive Asylum, the countless whispers and random activities from the locals make it seem as anything could be out to get you. The game-play involving the camera alone should get you immersed into the story as an freelance journalist, at some points of the game when the threat is present, it makes you wonder whether what you are recording should be considered as video evidence or just straight up future ' found footage' material. Overall, this game is definitely worth giving a try if you enjoy horror games. especially if it's on sale. That is of course if you have the courage to do so ;)
