Abelard, review this game for me.

Let's roll-oll

This is a great little game and easily deserves the 'Overwhelmingly Positive' tag. I've sunk 31 hours into it in two weeks; if ever there was an example of 'one more turn' this is it. In that time I've completed the spire with all three characters and now unlocked the possibility to fight the final boss.
At it's core it's a deck building game but with many subtle nuances that require you to be very fluid in your approach and sometimes completely change the way you are building your deck to fit around a core relic you have just got.
I picked it up for £9 in the sale and have had my value for money twofold at the bare minimum.
Highly recommended.

If you get to play this without reading any spoilers (avoid community hub some ellbends post titles that are spoilers..) and all in one go then you will have a great experience that will genuinely make you feel ever more on edge.
I admit I stepped away for a 10 minute break during my play for a small respite!

It does a very good job of giving the feel of freedom and scale whilst still being linear enough that you always know where you're going and how to get there.

You can expect circa 4 hours of gameplay depending on how directly you finish the main story, perhaps not quite worth £15 but on reflection I didn't feel dissapointed with the purchase afterwards. There are plenty of games that it only dawns on you after 2 hours that you'd rather have refunded them and this is not one of those.

I'm an hour in an my thoughts are positive.

We've had a ream of poorly executed or just downright terrible 40k games and it's nice that this is another which is actually fun to play!

Though quite simplistic it's a very good interpretation of the table top game. The graphic style is clean and clear, though if it wasn't for the map I might sometimes miss gretchin hiding in the grass; the ability to highlight enemy units would be handy.

The unit and firing animations are basic at best; the game weighs in at under 1GB so this is not surprising. Still despite this I think the main focus of the game has gone into the gameplay and that's a far better place to spend your time!

I'm only an hour in but just wanted to post positive feedback for those wanting to invest in a good 40k game but not be burnt...again.

This is the reason I will never buy another greenlight/early access game. Just put them on your wishlist and wait for them to be done.
