a lot to say about this venture (it's really more than a game, on many levels: )

- as a player you have to opportunity to shape the world (how culures, people, religions, infrastructures & world wonders) are distributed around the ancient world (europe, asia, india)
- as a producer, Paradox & teams tried twice (v1 & V2 marius) to understand and provide to the community, yet failed to achieve their own expectations and abandoned it way too early

yet, the map is beautiful and truly huge: you can easily get lost (with your troops) in the immensity of european forests, iberian hills, central asiatic steppes & mountains, but you can decide if you so wish to make out of an oasis, a new gigantic metropolis leading politically and economically your empire and civilization.

the good side with the early abandonment of development is the depth of the mods: any mechanics or content is there to stay, since it wont get outdated in the next patch.

so if you want a nice mix between EU4 (sandbox arcade-y), stellaris/vic2 (pop system), political (CK like but lighter), but you're affraid of a early abandoned project: go without hesitation: modders provide what was probably meant to come:

Invictus gives a lot more content for tribes in europe & asia, and its extended timeline mod simulates christinity rise & 3rd century epidemics & crises

this interactive movie is about pushing "W" to follow the script and click the head of the baddies to earn golden badges. really not a bad movie but i bought it as a game, maybe it's my bad. anyway it'll mark history as a really good revisionist western, not as a bloody game.
