It has its flaws but I think in 2024 it is among the best RTS experiences. They did a really good job with the remake, a lot better than the Extended Edition.

Even though there is room for improvement, the DLC has been patched a lot since the launch and now it is in a pretty decent spot. I still think that 10 euros might be too much for it but it definitely worths it on discount. Regardless, I revoke my negative feedback.

I think it's a really good sequel to the prevous game. I really loved it how they extended the gameplay. 10/10, already expecting the future updates for this andalusian hell.

The DLC had a bad start but they improved it a lot, so I'm revoking my negative feedback.

It's quite likely among the best horror games I have ever played. It's an interactive and dynamic horror puzzle game with a lot of interesting gameplay mechanics, probably among the more complex survival horror titles. Gameplay wise it's a mix between Resident Evil, Alien Isolation and the first Amnesia game. The game is pretty difficult and unforgiving at times so it takes time to figure out how things work in this game. You will die a lot if you start on Normal like I did but overall I enjoyed every second of the game and looking forward to more replays.

10/10, can only recommend

Update: The recent update made the game even more worthwhile to play. You can customize your playthrough much more and the new Shell Shocked difficulty was really good. The mode added a lot of spice to the already terrifying game.

The premise itself is pretty good, but after the premise the game just goes a downward spiral in terms of gameplay. I am not going to write a lengthy review, I am just going to sum up what I didn't like about this game:

It's boring as hell. Combat is pretty straightforward and dumb. The enemies designwise are pretty mediocre and they are barely any scare or threat, despite the buildup in the beginning. The rest of gameplay is mostly walking simulator with budget platformer elements which are buggy as hell and traps can sometimes instantly kill you (I'm looking at you spiky floor puzzle).

The game did have a few nice mechanics. The scanning device you have to use to reveal secrets was pretty neat but even it became tedious to use after a while.

My honest opinion is that this game doesn't worth a single penny nor anyone's time..

It's rare to find a platformer which can be challenging but not obnoxiously difficult and this one is among those which I enjoyed entirely from beginning to the end. I completed the game and unlocked everything and I can say the game has a solid gameplay, stunning cartoony visuals, good humor and fair difficulty. At no point I felt the game was too hard or too easy or totally unfair, even at collecting the collectible stuff.

My only critique is that the game could have been longer and/or they could have added more content for the replay value but other than these I can't say a bad word about this game.

8/10, I can recommend

It didn't age well. Clunky unit controls, unresponsive units, vehicles are just way too fast. Not really a good RTS experience.

I used to love this game when I was younger but then I guess I grew up and I started seeing its faults. I still love the original Gothic games but while this game was supposed to be the spiritual successor of the series it just fails to deliver. First of all the story and mood of the game is mediocre at best. It lacks the magic of the original Gothic games and the story is just a chain of fetch quests. The combat itself is extremely dated and even in that regard it is horribly executed. Dodging is clunky and certain enemies can only be defeated if you corner them otherwise you will miss all your hits. The combat itself is pretty much just stat check. Not much skill required because enemies deal huge damage and you just need to outdamage them, so practically you need to pour everything into stats, defense is still worthless (it was a problem in Gothic games too). However, this also makes the game boring as you will steamroll the game. Even though you have magic and ranged combat (crossbow and bows), the game somewhat forces you to go melee as lot of quests require you to defeat your opponent in melee combat. While this doesn't seem problematic at first but in this game you need put points into stats and talents which you get only by leveling up. So the more you spend on one attribute the fewer you can spend on others and the game punishes you if you spread your points too much. Magic itself is poorly executed: all combat spells are only available if you join the Order as there is no offensive spell scroll and offensive spells are Crystals which you can only use if you are a Warrior or a Magician. Enemy variation is meh and they mostly rely on dirty tricks. Combined with the dated Gothicesque gameplay, they can be infuriating to deal with. The hitboxes are also weirdly designed.

On the positive note: the game has a nice crafting and thievery system implemented. It's sad that the poorly designed combat makes even that unenjoyable.

So overall: I don't suggest anyone to buy this game unless it is extremely cheap and also don't have huge expectations from it.
