1. I created a Team of my 3 close friends.
2. Two more of my friends want to play.
- Can't invite them because the party is full.
- Can't invite them to the server after joining a server, "Invite to Game"
3. Join a 64-player Team Objective server through matchmaking.
- Can't invite friends to game, invites them to party.

Also, there's no voice chat. I can't stand a game where I can't strategize with my team on how to win. The only redeeming fact about this game is pressing F10 and committing suicide.

I hadn't played Hunt: Showdown since July 14th. I decided to boot up yesterday for the brand new map AND boss. Now, I love the map, and I think the new boss is really cool, but the UI makes the game completely unuseable.

Two clicks to "Leave match?" instead of one? I have to pan over to the OVERSIZED button to click it.
"Last Match" requires me to scroll the entire height of my monitor 3 times to see all my kills. Beforehand, it was all visible on my monitor.
I try to scroll through my hunters, but they're laid out horizontally, not vertically. There's no scroll bars to pan through my hunters and I have to spam the left/right arrows.
Trials? Removed. If I knew this I would have been finishing them the past month.
Monstrum? Removed.

The only and I mean ONLY good change in this UI is the Perks. Every perk is visible on your screen and you can now FAVORITE them (I would have preferred being able to create perk decks like loadouts though, think PAYDAY 2). So why is it that, you condensed the perks into a single screen, but EVERY OTHER PAGE in the ENTIRE UI requires horizontally scrolling to see everything??? Make it make sense.

Despite the argument that the game said, "You are REQUIRED to link your PSN account", it also said, "SKIP". The words Required and Skip are diametrically opposed. You can't say something is required while allowing it to be indefinitely skipped, all because you wanted to cash in on the windfall that you received as developers.

The developers only expected 7,000 people to be on launch for HELLDIVERS 2 based on HELLDIVERS 1 information. Instead, it was 400,000. They removed the PSN requirement to make as much money as possible, and then ran this BAIT-AND-SWITCH on gamers once we passed the 2 hour Steam refund time period. I would have refunded day 1 if I knew they were going to do this.

So now I have to register on PSN and have my data breached? No thanks.

I bought Iron Harvest along with Generation Zero as a birthday present for myself back in 2021 March, with Iron Harvest being the deluxe edition at $70. I beat Generation Zero some time ago, but my enjoyment of the Iron Harvest campaign stalled in 2022. Now, in February of 2023, I finally got around to forcing myself to beat the game.

MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT OVERALL: In 2022, they added some way to redeem finished missions for in-game currency to use in Multiplayer. This requires an online-only connection to play singleplayer. I am always online, however very frequently I get this after finishing a mission:

Nguyên văn bởi Iron Harvest:
Offline Mode
Could not connect to online services. You will not be able to play multiplayer matches, access your profile, or gain rewards from completed matches.

I DO NOT HAVE ANY MEDALS FOR THE FINAL THREE LEVELS OF THE GAME I JUST BEAT!!! I have restarted my game multiple times, but no, even after beating the final level again I'm still getting this message.

Here is my review proper.

Pros
  • LANGUAGE: I absolutely love the fact that every ethnicity speaks their own language, and you can even toggle between their language and English. I bought Iron Harvest for the same reason that I watched 1899 on Netflix. I wish more games were like this.
  • Artillery Alignment: The shift-right-click for artillery guns works splendidly
  • Plot: Plot is like Starcraft with 3 civilizations and a big bad if you liked StarCraft II

Cons
  • Load Time: Game takes forever to boot up
  • Pause Time: Main menu (ESC) takes way too long to open
  • Unit Selection: Bottom bar should show 2 or 3 rows when you have too many units, instead you have to click through to find the unit you want, can't even middle mouse wheel it
  • Unit Creation: You don't click buildings to cancel unit creation, you have to scroll all the way to the right in your unit list and click X. Another reason why the bottom bar is terrible
  • Runaway Artillery: Artillery unit toggle state should be permanent unless a deploy/undeploy button is pressed, just like trebuchets in Age of Empires II. The number of times that I accidentally move one of my artillery pieces while it is attacking something is huge. One of the German mechs has this ability, all artillery should
  • Limited Construction: Cannot create your HQ wherever you want, there are specific build zones
  • Inconsistent Controls: You use left click to heal from the action menu but right click to click from the map and action bar, which is confusing. The "use" mouse button and "select" mouse button should be consistent
  • Not As Advertised: Mechs look cooler in the artist illustrations that in-game: they're too small. Granted, Starcraft had to scale down the size of battlecruisers as well
  • Save File Bug: Clicking a save file and then renaming your save will still override the previous save file
  • Runaway Mechs: Mechs destroy cover and you can't tell them not to, such as a "street mode" setting
  • Saves Deleted and Limited: There's a limit of saves, and your saves cannot be restored after every update and must be deleted
  • Profile Bug: Popup: "Your user profile has become corrupted and must be reset" I had to delete ALL of my save files and reset my profile
  • Grouping is Pointless: If you group your units, they don't move at the same speed, whichever one is fastest goes ahead
  • Grouping Shortcuts: The grouping shortcuts don't work like other RTSs like StarCraft, Age of Empires, or even Total War. Clicking SHIFT did not allow me to add units to existing keygroups
  • Cut Scene Bug: Cut scene showed "You are not connected to Online", and then when I clicked OK, it black screened and skipped the cutscene.
  • Bunkers and Mine Population: Bunkers and mines count as population, which means you really can't build up your base at all with defenses. Turtling is an impossible strat.
  • UI size Is Aesthetic: Changing the UI size doesn't allow you to see more units at the bottom of your screen, it just makes the UI smaller
  • Can't Build Large Armies: Artificial population restrictions makes singleplayer games a lot less fun
  • No Formations: Unlike Age of Empires 2, there's no way to change a group to be "attack" mode, "defense" mode, or stand ground, or no attack stance. I've had units follow an enemy unit into its base because I right-clicked to attack it.
  • Lack of Achievements: No achievements for beating Singleplayer missions
  • Biggest Bug of All: Every time I had to restart a singleplayer mission I got Offline Mode "Could not connect to online services. You will not be able to play multiplayer matches, access your profile, or gain rewards from completed matches." DID NOT GIVE ME ANY MEDALS FOR LAST 3 MISSIONS

This is only true for the original campaign:
  • Another Action Bar Deficiency: Can't right-click on unit bar to have engineers repair mechs

Katakana Warriors was easily the best game in the series. Why? Because it made learning Katakana easy and fun!

DISCLAIMER: I played this entire game on my phone using JoiPlay so my hours don't match: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cyou.joiplay.joiplay&hl=en_US&gl=US

Katakana is such a great game that I was able to learn Katakana fluently in 1 month in real time, 24 hours in game time. Comparatively, it took me from 2021 October to 2022 May to beat Hiragana Battle with the same amount of in-game time, 24 hours. Why such a long difference? Because Hiragana Battle was not engaging, it was clunky, and it felt really outdated just 5 years after release.

Here are the five things that make Katakana Warriors a great game:

1. Hiragana Heartburn
Virtually all of the issues I detailed in my Hiragana review are fixed. It's easier to select Katakana characters, the characters play the sound when they attack, etc. https://steamproxy.com/id/patpeter/recommended/438270?snr=1_5_9__402

2. The characters Were Great
Each character is truly individual, changing class as you level each one up, unlike Hiragana Warriors where each individual character did not have their own personalities really. You actually become invested in each character. Kyoko is like Rei Ayanami, you can't help but root for her to come out of her shell. The characters spurred me on to complete the game.

3. Voice Acting is Good
I can't remember cringing at any of the voice actors, so I'm giving this game an A for voice acting. The only thing I do remember is that there are parts where it will be voice-acted, the next few lines aren't voice acted, and then it goes back to voice acting. That took me out of the immersion of the game, but did not happen often as I recall.

4. Combat: Fighting and Turn Order
The combat is much better in this game than Hiragana Warriors, as mentioned. Fights actually feel real, like the enemies are dynamic and their attacks are dynamic. All of the stats for your characters make sense. The game shows the turn order for each character/obake in the top right of combat. In Kanji Combat, it doesn't show turn order and the stats make no sense because each kanji is an instant-kill.

5. Quests are Very Educational and Logged
Katakana Warriors has educational quests that help to learn Japanese grammar such as verbs and adjectives beyond just katakana words (Hiragana warriors basically just focused on words) and a quest log that allows players to see what each quest was about (each quest has a theme).

Of all these games I would suggest playing Katakana Warriors first and then learning Hiragana elsewhere, or just memorize Hiragana through rote memorization and then play this game.

To mention upfront, I have printed out all 14 pages of these flashcards, laminated them, and then cut them out to use them.

As mentioned in the only other review, having the front and back in different PDFs is very confusing and I'm almost positive that the PDF file format has controls in it to allow aligned front/back printing. However, that is not my main complaint.

This DLC only contains flashcards for Lessons 1-14, and Bonus Lessons 1-3. I am on Phase 2 of the game and the more complex kanji are the ones I'm really struggling on, not the simple ones from Phase 1.

First, kun'yomi should be in hiragana and on'yomi should be in katakana!!! This is the third installation in the series. It should be assumed (also based on Claire's plot) that the player has played both Hiragana Battle and Katakana War. Having the backs of each flashcard in ROMAJI is disgusting and actually not useful for learning the language (romaji literally stymies Japanese language learning based on studies).

Second, the description of this DLC should contain a list of the flashcards provided by the DLC like so:

  • Male Hero - Lesson 1 - 水、火、木、石、金
  • Female Hero - Lesson 2 - 日、月、年、早、夕
  • Hana - Lesson 3 - 一、ニ、三、四、五
  • Elliot - Lesson 4 - 六、七、八、九、十
  • Priya - Lesson 5 - 上、下、左、右、中
  • Fredrik - Lesson 6 - 百、千、本、文、字
  • Holly - Lesson 7 - 力、気、生、休、立
  • Ray - Lesson 8 - 校、学、正、入、出
  • Shiro - Lesson 9 - 花、草、田、雨、空
  • Claire - Lesson 10 - 王、玉、円、小、大
  • Masakuni - Lesson 11 - 人、名、女、男、子、犬
  • Katsukiyo - Lesson 12 - 目、耳、口、足、見
  • Amane - Lesson 13 - 林、森、山、川、雨、土
  • Spring - Lesson 14 - 村、町、先、青、白、赤
  • Winter - Bonus Lessons - 車、虫、糸、貝、音、竹

The DLC should be CLEAR and UPFRONT about exactly which flashcards are in it so that users know what they're purchasing.

Like SovietSquatch (https://steamproxy.com/id/SovietSquatch/recommended/490650/), I can't believe the negative reviews on this DLC so I have to post a review.

Nuka-World is easily the most fun and the best Fallout 4 DLC. Each of the different zones in Nuka World offers an enriching side quest line:

  • Safari Adventure - Tarzan, but Fallout!
  • Dry Rock Gulch - The Sheriff's quest was cute
  • World of Refreshment - Basically the same as the Far Harbor.
  • Kiddie Kingdom - Good lore/backstory if you read what happened to the survivors.
  • Galactic Zone - I obsessively hacked every robot and created a ROBOT ARMY!!!

Not only that but sending raiders across the Commonwealth was a fun way of re-conquering the world. It was also nice to play around with the building mechanics added with raider buildings.

After going through all my old games on Steam and categorizing the ones I completed, I clicked on this game for some nostalgia only to see the reviews. Mostly negative? Really? Did they even finish the game? I bought Guns of Icarus Online BECAUSE of this game, which was called "Guns of Icarus" at the time, not the other way around for some "skin". I anxiously awaited the release of Guns of Icarus Online for years.

Pros
- The game is still a challenge 12 years later! I just tried to focus only armor with no tesla/rockets and I got SWARMED. Had to try a different path
- The game has multiple paths so there's a lot of replayability
- The game has a survival mode called "Into the Breach" if the main campaign is too easy for you
- Enemies have a hit indicator
- The plot of the game is good, simple, and mysterious, which is what hooked me on looking forward to Guns of Icarus. You're a trader between cities, why are the people buying this game expecting some complex, hero's journey plot?
- The upgrade system is straightforward. Do terribly and you get nothing, do good and you get a gun, do great and you get an upgrade

Cons
- The last build or just modern graphics ruined the text. In the map, the names of each location is displayed 2-3 times and the tutorial text has improper margins
- The enemies can retreat behind an invisible wall that makes them invincible, and you end up wasting a few shots thinking you can hit them

In conclusion, I believe most of the negative reviews are people who were overly critical of this game, and did not play it until completion. Steampunk games like this and StormWinds 1.5 are a rarity nowadays, and I wish more developers would make games in this space, but if they see this many negative reviews, we aren't going to get more games in this genre.

tl;dr Stop being overly-critical of an overall good game.

All of my criticisms of this game have been implemented in Learn Japanese To Survive! Katakana War and I will be positively reviewing that game when I'm done with it.

DISCLAIMER:: I played 16 hours on PC, but then I copied the game to my phone and used JoiPlay to play it since it's an RPGMaker game. I have 24 hours in total as of writing this review. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cyou.joiplay.joiplay&hl=en_US&gl=US

I did not read keyofw's review (https://steamproxy.com/id/keyofw/recommended/438270/) before writing a draft of my own, but we share many of the same points.

1. No Vocalization when Selecting Sounds

In Learn Japanese To Survive! Katakana War, attacking with katakana plays the sound of that katakana. In Kanji Combat, when you select a kanji, it plays the kun'yomi or on'yomi of the kanji. This is fantastic game design because every battle reinforces these sounds and you begin to associate the sounds with the kana.

This game does not do that. The only time it plays the sounds of each character is during the lessons. Since the sounds are already in the game, it shouldn't take the developers that much time to have the players play each hiragana sound when attacking.

2. List of Hiragana Attacks is Unintuitive

In Learn Japanese To Survive! Katakana War/Kanji Combat, there are 5 kana on each row. The game should have had something like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiragana#/media/File:Table_hiragana.svg

Instead it's:

a i
u e
o ka
ki ku
ke ko
ga gi
gu ge
go sa
shi su
se so
za ji
zu ze
zo ta
chi tsu
te to
da ji (d)
zu (d) de
...

You get it, it's a PAIN to scroll all the way up and all the way down. They should have used 10 columns with the dakuten and ん in rows below the main hiragana.

3. ん was not taught first

There are many words in the vocabulary that the game cannot properly teach you because it didn't introduce the most basic Hiragana, ん, first, but rather last. For instance, it taught that senpai is し-n-か-n-せ-n. No one is going to go back and actually re-learn/re-read the proper hiragana you're just going to have to learn it by hearing the word.

4. Hiragana enemies are not randomized

As keyofw pointed out, the groups of hiragana warriors are predefined instead of truly being randomized. Each group has the same hiragana so there's a weigh as to which hiragana you'll see most more than others, which leaves you with blind spots for the hiragana you see the least.

5. English enemies only show up twice

Reverse enemies only show up twice, once in the coffins and once on the boat. There should have been reverse enemies for EVERY stage of the game! I got very, very good at clicking ぬ nu, ね ne, no の, but if I just saw "ne" I couldn't actually picture ね in my head.

6. Small Gameplay Issues - Items and Map

You have to buy a mirror for a sidequest alongside several other items once you reach Tokyo, and none of the items seem to have a purpose other than you're supposed to guess which one is a mirror? It would have been better if each item had a purpose and then you'd have a need to memorize what the name of each one was. Doubly so, Ramune and other items should have been called Ramune (らむね) as a way of getting you used to the Hiragana characters before you encounter them.

When you leave Snowmass Village, you leave from the top but your characters spawn at the bottom, so if you hold down the Up button you just infinitely go in and out of the town. Several other locations are like this and just a complete pain to get in and out of, like Tokyo and Mt. Fuji.

7. The Plot Was Lacking

Without spoiling anything, what was the dynamic between Noburo and his sister? What were their individual objectives? If Noburo had said, "I want to make the world fear and hate hiragana!" that would have been more convincing as a bad guy. Or it would have been even better if he said, "I've been sent by Japan to conquer your country!" and then you find out once you travel to Japan that he's a lone actor. Basically could have made it where Noburo is carrying out false flag attacks and you have to prevent war by revealing it. Instead you get... *spoiler*.

8. No "Castle"/"Treehouse" or Endgame Content

Once again, in Katakana War/Kanji Combat, there is a a castle/treehouse where you can battle it out with all of the kana that you've encountered this far. This is NOTHING close to this in Hiragana Battle. There's no place where you can test your skill against each and every single hiragana that you've encountered. The best you get is Grim Tower where you fight whole words. The first level or two of the Grim Tower should have been random assortments of hiragana. I found that once I finished learning all of them, I started to forget all of the k-, g- s-, and z- hiragana, or confuse them for each other. I could have used a refresher towards the end.

Also, not all of the vocab words even show up in the Grim Tower.

Lastly, after you defeat Noburo, if you climb back to the top of The Grim Tower you cannot face him in combat again to test your knowledge of words, and your four spirtes are stuck on the top floor like doppelgangers. The game also deletes all items from your inventory (but not weapons or armor). Clearly bugs and quite depressing. I'm glad I didn't override my save from right before I beat him.

tl;dr: If you want to learn Hiragana, grab a book and write each character once a day for several days while verbalizing them. You will learn Hiragana very quickly, much faster than playing this game.

This game has potential, but after 6 years it very badly needs an update. The audio files for each hiragana are already in the game so the devs could fix that, and they could also fix the UI to allow better selection of hiragana.

For those who say this is too much criticism for a $7 game, this game is for all intents and purposes a prequel to Katakana Battle and Kanji Combat, and should be played before the other two, so I have to review this game.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

With 1 week to go before the 2020 erection, I mean election, this is the best game that you can play to support the Donald J. Trump 2020 Campaign!

This game perfectly educates the player on the effect the mainstream media is having in propagating fake news through the lens of Lucy. Lucy Prime, just like Donald Trump, is a victim of the fake news media that tells lies about Cockwork Industries. We learn about all of the media lies that our protagonist has been told, and only by getting red-pilled by Lucy does he come to accept that Cockwork Industries isn't just some advertisement from a pr0n website.

The game even features an Enemy of the People, one of the fake news journalists who infiltrates Cockwork Industries and hides in a vent to create false stories about Lucy and the other wonderful staff at Cockwork Industries. There's no line she won't cross. Just like the liberal media will attack Barron Trump, a child, she will attack any member of Cockwork Industries.

The supporting staff for this game is marvelous, and only further underscores what QAnon has told us. Jean-Pierre asks us, "can jet fuel melt steel beams?" which is an obvious calling card for other QAnon supporters. Immediately upon him saying that, I knew to read between the lines with every single supporting character, and let me just say, Diego is the most based among them. if you know what Diego is *actually* saying to you, especially 49517, then you are a true QAnon supporter.

Finally, you unravel the truth behind Cockwork Industries, and you realize that it's a metaphor for what Alex Jones has been preaching to us for decades. We need to unlock the secrets of the human body, the cure for cancer, and finally evolve as a species, and that's what the ending of this game is. Now go out there and vote for Trump so we can defeat those pedophile vampires keeping the secrets of the human race to themselves!
