Allows you to envision yourself as the leader of an empire spanning dozens or even hundreds of stars. You can be as micromanaging or macromanaging as you'd like, and it provides many opportunities for roleplaying and writing.

Sadly the game becomes extremely lag-filled and Paradox seems to have little interest in fixing that, but it gives you more reason to develop planet-shattering weaponry and go on a rampage across the galaxy. Fewer sentient beings in the galaxy mean less lag.

Very similar to Planet Coaster. The downsides are these:
1) A metric crap ton of micromanaging. You'll spend every waking moment selling animals because they reproduce way faster than they probably should.
2) "Obstructed". For whatever reason it doesn't like when you build things a certain way, and grid patterns don't always work like they should. Don't expect reasons as you'll only get that word "obstructed" and you'll have to try to figure out why it isn't working.
3) People have x-ray vision. They can see through walls, but yet that view of the Nile Monitor is just "fine."

I recommend it, but get ready to be overwhelmed with customization options that aren't really customizable. Too many options but no way to colour them is a problem with this developer's games and it makes it a pain to find something comparable to the look you're going for in your next exhibit.

This game is very pretty BUT it does have a few flaws.

Once you get past the initial hump of the paleolithic era, there isn't a whole lot to do. The village pretty much runs itself even on the more difficult settings.

There isn't terrain development. I'm not meaning we need god powers, but it'd be nice to see the villagers attempt to make a bit more space for farming as the hilly terrain that all the maps have make that difficult.

It'd be nice to see more ages and tech in those ages. Right now it's a bit bare.

The map is big and that's great, but you can hardly use a lot of it because how long it takes for villagers to travel.

I'd appreciate better paths for the AI. Basically the map is a grid and each building is a grid. Some buildings can only be rotated 90 degrees, but others have 45 degree options as well. All of them however have a mythical box around them that prevent people from walking between buildings. This is a major headache. I'd like it if the villagers would walk between buildings.

We do need more map options though, and ones of different eras and cultures. Perhaps ones in North America (without horses and the sort for historical accuracy)? Pacific Northwest and the Great Lakes region would be awesome.

Otherwise than those criticisms, the game is actually pretty good. I love the inclusion of workplaces as that makes micromanagement an option but not the sole option. Graphics are great as I mentioned and it's fairly straightforward gameplay.

It's not bad. I do recommend though that you keep moving after you kill something. It will respawn. I killed a guard and a civilian on the Dark Brotherhood questline and the civilian respawned before I had the chance to leave the room, giving me a bounty of around 50 coins every second until I killed him.

Poor performance on a GTX 970 and i7 5820K. Locks up mid-match. Sound works, can look around battlefield, but nothing will happen.

Initial setup will always result in an infinite loading screen. Must ctrl+alt+delete. Do not use the automatic graphics settings option.

Units aren't that detailed even on insane graphics setting at 1080p. They have outlines that make the units look two dimensional. There are no unit animations for the troops in vehicles, they're all static. The appearances of the soldiers leave much to be desired. Eugen is usually known for their attention to detail so I don't know why they dropped the ball this time.

The UI needs significant work to be a bit more user friendly.

The AI needs significant work. Medium is just as hard as very hard AI, there is no variation.

Units spontaneously explode randomly. Was driving a small four-truck convoy of infantrymen up to the front lines. Halfway there they exploded. No enemy troops were on my side of the line.

Can't destroy bridges or slow down advances. There are plenty of bridges, the game just lacks the ability to destroy them.

It becomes a battle of spreading your units out horizontally. It's not tactical when facing AI. The AI will not try to advance if you create a line of soldiers regardless of composition.

If I can be very nitpicky too, the U.S. flag's stripes are wrong.

Will update this post-launch to see if anything changes.

Early Access Review
After 1.0: A lot more fun than it was before. Still got some bad community members, but there are many servers running that make up for it I feel. Different game modes are a nice touch now. Definitely worth the price they ask for.

Before 1.0, when I bought in early access: The main downside of the game is the servers.

Any server you join, whether it is CORE (my favourite server) or official servers, you will find one side is full of experts and the other side full of people who would rather pick their nose and call people autistic than fix the hull. You will find that most of the matches you play, half that side will quit the match and you'll be left with two ships: a galleon with half crew and a smaller ship with 3 people.

Otherwise than that, it's a spectacular game. I think it would work better with a different method of setting up crews and ships into matches.

Does exactly as it says: it makes awesome wallpapers. I currently use the Star Citizen Area 18 wallpaper.

Take Train Fever and improve on it in every way you could ever think of.

You now have Transport Fever.

Reminds me a lot of Battlestations: Pacific and Battlestations: Midway. The servers could really use some work though. 2000ms lag spikes on servers that are on my continent.

Graphics are terrible, but gameplay on a xbox 360 controller is pretty nice.
