Beautiful beautiful. Game of the year. I'm in love with Hubert. Fresh gameplay. Great writing. Banger soundtrack. Sexy Hubert. If you're a real indie gamer you will buy this right now. Do it for Hubert.

Going in (relatively) blind, with the controls being a bit wonky at first, to the jarringly stylistic aesthetic, the first landing in this game was iffy for me. But within 30 minutes I knew this would be my game of the year; I was completely hooked.

Not only are each of the chapters individually compelling, but the way they are introduced and how the characters flow within them is expertly arranged while still being non-linear and relatively open to the player's exploration. The way that you have to take note of every character and their actions, and track them in time to see their motives and try to unravel their individual story is just such an excellently satisfying activity that really pulls you so much deeper in the story.

At the end of the day, the story is great, and the gameplay just elevates it 10x. I don't want to give too much away about how the game works (because I believe going in blind is always a good idea), but there's something so inexplicably alluring about the mesh between narrative and gameplay that is so unique to this game, and I think any devoted gamer needs to experience to see just what the medium can offer.
