The fear and hunger series is definitely the most intense gaming experience i've ever had. The feeling of being constantly in a seemingly impossible situation is always very oppressing but it's extremely satisfying when you're able to get out of said situation either through a correct resource usage, fighting or simply running away from the danger. The save points are strategically scattered around the map and the feeling that if you die you lose a lot of progress is even more present here than the previous game thanks to the open world formula which expands the game by a lot and doesn't hurt the pacing or the soul of the game in the slightest.

I definitely suggest to try this game if macabre, violent, dark and challenging is your thing. But be sure to play F&H1 first since the 2 games are explicitly connected in the game's narrative and both offer a similar yet very different experience.

Some bad things that i think could be improved:

I believe that the game really suffers from having an artificial difficulty given by the lack of teaching fundamental game mechanics to the player and lack of key quality of life improvements.

Why are the skills' descryptions in the hexen (F&H's skill tree) hidden?

I believe that it doesn't make sense to hide info that should push the player to spend resources and try different things based on the game's tutorialization.

I'm not expecting a wall of text explaining everything in detail but at least i would like to have a general idea of what i should invest in instead of spending a skill point > checking out the new skill > deciding whether to restart if the skill turns out to be useless.

Since the hexen is manily provided at save points, there's no reason to make it a trial and error thing.
Since it is easy to instantly know what a skill does after you unlock it, why bother hiding its descryption?

Having a suspend option is crucial if the game expects you to save as little as possible and so requiring 2 hrs per session or more
Be sure to install a mod that allows to suspend the game without the need to find a save spot.
It can be downloaded here: https://www.reddit.com/r/FearAndHunger/comments/13kvifz/termina_suspend_and_restore_mod/

Spoilers with useful gameplay tips:

After saving about 8-10 times via sleeping it's a guaranteed game over.
Sleeping also advances time and makes various npcs act accordingly, so if you'd like to explore as much as possible in a single day, you'd have to resort to use saving items and drawing the sigil of the God Of Fear and Hunger, which are both not very common and are both one use only.

Some enemies' placement leaves a lot to be desired
Why are the bobbies able to block your path and end your run because of it? The clunky map tilebased navigation doesn't help very much either.

Making the enemies stay on the tile they were the moment you left that room feels cheap. As if enemies can wait DAYS waiting for you to come back from the exact same spot.

The stalker enemy of this game can appear on a tile at the edge of the current room WHILE YOU'RE ON THAT TILE or near it. This can cost you hours of progress and feels bad.

Why have a run option in battle if it doesn't work?
In a game where running IS almost always the best option, it shouldn't be so punishing to try to me.
Failing to run can cost your main character's turn and sometimes it means death. Losing progress because you failed to run 4 times in a row ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.

I suggest playing on easy(er) difficulty not only for a smoother experience, but also for a more doable first natural run without using any guides.
