what's interesting about SoD2 is that, it has this amazing concept added to your average zombie themed survival horror game, which is being able to have a group of survivors that you can seamlessly switch in between and having to manage them for their needs and interest, while on the side, building a base for them and managing that very base

the survivors you can play as have a massive amount of different types of traits, skills and bonuses that make each character unique and interesting to play as. there is also a perma-death system. this makes it so that you cannot save-load abuse like in certain other games, as this game autosaves very frequently, almost in real-time. so don't try to get attached to your characters, since you may have them die and you may have to continue without them

loot, craft, salvage, fight and defend... there is a huge variety of guns and melee weapons that you can craft and loot, a good amount of cars you can find in the maps, and different zombie types you can encounter throughout your journey. there is so much RNG to what you may come across, though. so, at times, you have to, to some extent, adapt your play style to whatever situation/position you are in

go loud or play stealthy, play solo or with friends... this game is amazing and definitely a hidden gem, in my eyes. I'd say if you enjoy zombie themed survival horror genre, you have to give this game a try

PS: they could've added some basic character customization into the game. it would add a bit of extra points, for sure

the game is probably one of the best takes on the concept of backrooms, considering how the other backrooms games just throw out some stupid *ss entities to try to make the gameplay "interesting". well, there are some encounters in this game too, which I'm not going to spoil, but this game does not need entities that are constantly chasing you and trying to kill you at all times. this game has its own way of implementing thrill by just its atmosphere and setting alone. so I'd say this game is conceptually outperform the other titles of the genre

with that being said, I'm in no way stating that this game is perfect. the flashlight is automatic and it turns on in dark areas but sometimes it doesn't, so you have to basically just listen to your footsteps and guess if you're actually going in a certain direction or stuck walking towards a wall - as stupid as that sounds...

during some parts of the levels that you have to crouch through narrow spaces, it feels like it's impossible to get the right angle to pass through and for the character to actually squeeze out of there... so at times, you may have to press the crouch key a couple of times, walk back, take a break and then try to pass through again etc.

overall though, give this a try if you like the backrooms genre. it's definitely a decent experience and there's a good amount of interesting levels to see. it's a short, 1-2 hour game that will stress you out a lot, maybe even more than you think

excellent concept for a game but f%&king awful execution

once a game matches you with players who have hundreds and sometimes even thousands of hours, everything good about it falls apart. how can you have fun when you don't know anything about a game and trying to learn it, while the enemy is most of the time a try-hard b%&tard that knows every tip and trick there is

this game is EXTREMELY beginner unfriendly. you'll have no idea what is going on in a match unless you binge watch beginner tutorial videos on YouTube about survivors, killers, their special powers, perks and all the other little details

I'd imagine it was fun in 2016 when the game was just released and everyone played the game together with zero past experience; but as I've mentioned, now it is too difficult for new players to get into it just because of how broken and half-assed the matchmaking is

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME ON ITS CURRENT STATE. you cannot get into a game, I mean it has serious issues with matchmaking and its servers since the first day of the release. play Payday 2 instead, it's way better than whatever this is

I've been waiting for this game to come out for years! definitely one of the best coop horror games out there. an absolutely amazing game both solo and with friends! the ambience and the gameplay really stands out from other coop horror games. the character customization is decent, and there is a lot of stealth and running away if you're up for it :-)

if you've played Outlast and/or Outlast II, I'd suggest you also get this and give it a try since the third game, The Outlast Trials is a more of an advanced and a technical version of the former two games, especially with the introduction of throwables, consumables, prescriptions, rigs and amps - basically stuff that you can use and upgrade to your own liking depending on how you want to play the game

I cannot recommend this game enough to people who like horror

honestly, it hurts my soul how underrated and unknown this video game is. gameplay-wise and mechanically speaking, it is a perfectly-made game that could easily score a 10/10 if we were to rank it among other souls-like titles

the amount of replayability of this game is crazy. there are dozens of items with various properties that you can build your character with and dozens of different ways you can play it. in terms of both mechanics and skills, you can constantly improve yourself and add on top of what you already have

also, the game is so random that you can play it for tens of hours and still experience and enjoy it like it is a brand new game. sure, that makes it a bit annoying when you're trying to get a certain item for your character, but that really makes the game so interesting and rewarding at the end

whenever you want, you can re-roll your campaign progress (your character does not lose items) to experience new bosses and get new items, or if you do not want to re-roll the campaign, you can just play "adventure mode" that is shorter and more fit for focusing on a single biome to get that item you want

it can also be played co-op, and let me tell you: it is absolutely amazing to play with friends. yes, it does have a few bugs; however, they're really not those game-breaking bugs that make you want to uninstall and refund the game type

I'd suggest everyone who's into souls-like to get it and give it a try. who knows, maybe you'll come across your new favorite video game of all time :-)

disappointing. not sure why it does not have "early access" or "WIP" anywhere in its store page

edit: oh and also I wanted to play a survival horror game, not an overly dodge-based fighting game, but oh well...
