Overall I am enjoying my time with Hades II
The weapons in the first game were more fun, and I feel like the first game had fewer boring boon combinations.
Supergiant really set the bar high for themselves and Hades II gets pretty close

best game in the known universe .

Really enjoyed how unique the battling system works.

I'm really annoyed that even though I turned music volume all the way down, after a certain boss shows up a super loud song plays and even with the sound and music down the volume of the song is stupid loud. Basic settings don't work, wtf?

Upgrade path when you level up is kind of bland. You basically need to choose the same upgrades in ordered to max your damage output. There is not a lot of room for unique builds, basically have to choose the same options every time or you fail. This game is kinda "meh" for me

I'm in it for the vibes tbh, love the art style and the music. The creativity behind this game is fun, the silly emails, deranged clippy, etc.

Some reviews complain about balance, and those arguments aren't invalid, however at 25hrs I've won many rounds with every employee except for Greezy. I find both garrisons and towers can be very effective if you pair them with the correct item cards. You need to build synergies between the cards you play in ordered to win this game. Sometimes the card RNG is rough, but the vast majority of games should be winnable if you play smart. Some of the employees force you to play a certain way, which is challenging, but I think that most people can adapt to those challenges and won't get hard stuck.
I haven't touched endless mode yet, so I can't speak on that experience.


Quick and dirty tips: Focus on stacking similar damage types - but don't try to force every card to be the same type of damage. Example, having 3 Hellfire cards in play, and then focus on dropping +Hellfire Damage cards is a great strat. Try to find a balance between offensive and defensive towers/garrisons. I don't bother playing an item card that will only impact a single tower or garrison - save that card to combine for a better quality option. I almost never skip cards since with most employees, again you can combine useless cards into new cards that might offer a better synergy.
