I would absolutely recommend this game to others. It blends cozy and horror in a way that is well executed. I enjoyed every second of it, and going back to see how my choices would affect everything.

Okay, farming sims are probably one of my favorite genres and the kinds of games I bank the most hours on. So I've got experience. I love the influx of potion crafting games that have come out lately, and was incredibly excited for this one after seeing multiple videos on tiktok about it. Now that I've gotten it, however, I'm a little disappointed. I'm twelve hours into the game, and nearing the end. I've just unlocked the Barren Wastelands, so these complaints I feel are valid, although, they do align already with many other reviews.

Pros:

Art and premise; Beautiful art, the plot and idea of the story is wonderful. Brewing potions, befriending a town that starts off hating you is rather fun. The pixel graphics are fun and a lovely touch that makes the game feel very cozy and wholesome.

Gameplay; Over all the simplicity of diagnosing, treating and caring for your patients is nice. Relaxing, and not something to make you stress out at the end of the day. While I would like to see more difficult options for bigger issues, for me I enjoy this process.

Characters; So many characters you can befriend, I haven't bothered with romancing yet, and I probably won't, but the variety is wonderful and the diverse designs are beautifully done. It makes the town feel alive, and it's fun that your dog can track them down for you so that you don't have to spend all day looking for them.

Cons:

Buggy as all get out: I can't cook food, I can't buy multiple stacks of items, and despite scrolling through my journal tabs there is still a little 1 telling me I missed something. The latter is just a pet peeve, but the prior bugs are concerning. The fact that this is a $20 game and was not early access, but has these kind of game breaking bugs is ridiculous. I bought multiple stacks at the end of the day, and therefore had to restart from the beginning when I noticed I only had a single stack of apple juice in my inventory after dropping 2k+ on extra stacks. This means all of the gathering I did that day was gone. When I tried to cook my own food, all of my ingredients vanished, but guess what I didn't receive? The cooked food. This is apparently a known bug, and multiple people are reporting on it. But this is such a simple aspect of the game, it should not have been bugged like this in the first place.

Gathering; It's tiresome to say the least. Using the tools takes too much energy, in my opinion, and the fact that there is no way to improve the usage of your stamina is rather annoying. (Unless raising your health also raises your stamina, I have not bought that upgrade because I haven't yet had issue with losing health). Improving your tools also takes way too many resources and is terribly expensive when there is so little way to earn gold. The work around town can be fun, but it doesn't offset how expensive it is to upgrade resources. Speaking of resources, the price for buying materials is way too high. 105 gold for sap, is ridiculous. I understand it's almost like a convenience charge, but it's still a little boggling how expensive it can be.

Patients; I am so tired of only having ONE patient every other day, except for one event where I had like, 4 at once, it's been a drag. One it's hard to make money from it, two, you get way to few Mooncloves imo, and three, it's downright boring. Especially when said patients only have 1 or 2 things wrong with them AND i have to play a mini game to diagnose them almost every time.

Decorating; Same as with improving tools, and resources, it's too expensive. I haven't even started trying to decorate, plus with such limited options it doesn't inspire me in the slightest. I hadn't known about the DLC either until I read other reviews, and honestly I think it's criminal to charge that much when most of it should have already been in the game to begin with.

I feel like this game has SO MUCH potential to be absolutely the best out there, but I feel like it was released too soon. I'll still continue to play, and I do hope they improve on it quickly! At it's current stage, I can't say I would recommend it, unless you buy it on sale.
