There are two games as of today that are the definitive Zombie games that I judge all zombie games off of. This is one of them.

This game is literally the bar I judge other zombie survival games by.

So the game is like Plague Inc, except with the virus of religion instead of... well a virus.

you collect souls that flash in your territory, and that gives you points to upgrade your religion. Some other events pop up and I think if you click them you get upgrade points too but I am not sure. THey flash fast and disappear so you have to pay attention, they are on screen for seconds.

And watch out, the pop up satirical news alerts block your screen and when you click the X on them you are always going to miss out on your soul collect to get points. It never fails.

I have a bit of an issue with every religion option being locked behind "play the game to unlock the next faith" Additionally I don't know if there is a way to actually win the game and stop the "science counter" from counting down to making religion moot.

Early access, and it seems that since the game was put up on Steam there has never been an update or even Developer comment. I don't have any hope or... FAITH that the game will be updated or made more complete. Its an okay time waste, and for .99 cents Ill deal with it. But 10 bucks? Hell no.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I DESPERATELY want to like this game. It seems to have a lot of what I am wanting, but I cant get past the tutorial. Not that I cant get past it, but Ive gone through it three times because I get so annoyed with the BUILD THESE THINGS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WIDE OPEN WILDERNESS tasks, and I dont see an end in sight. Im sitting here building all these crafting tables, and traps with literally no explanation of how they work or any real advancement aside from "build these things in the wide open."

If it started you at a, like, shoddy house or something, and worked you up to crafting and upgrading and researching, and going out and scavenging meanwhile, it would be way better.

Every time I get annoyed with this crap tutorial, I stop playing they update and my save is not viable and I need to restart it.

Bought it full price.

played it for 2 hours, requested a refund. the UI isn't that good, the icons for upgrades were ugly. the matchmaking interface was bad. I get I shouldn't be comparing it to AOE2 DE, but I cant help it and it is just really sub par.

Maybe Ill give it a shot at some other date, but as it is now, from someone that played AOE, then AOE2 a whole lot, AOE3, then AOE2 again for years then the AOE2 DE...Age of Empires 4 is a hard pass.
