Early Access Review
Bought this on a whim because the premise reminded me of Boss Monster, a multiplayer tabletop game I love. After staying up way too late playing it, I feel comfortable saying that yeah, it's like what I imagine Boss Monster might play like as a single player game.

The graphics are old school gorgeous, but the UI could use a little work. The game itself is fun and decently paced. All in all a good find.

It's the love child of Binding of Isaac and Puzzle Quest. If you like either of those (and, you should like both of them, they're very very good), you'll like this.

General reminder though that the more you think about Isaac lore the more disturbing it gets. No major surface-level trigger warnings, but MAJOR trigger warnings (self-harm and child abuse at the very least) if you decide to piece together the clues it gives you.

If you like card games and dungeon crawlers and rogue lites, this is your jam. I seriously can't praise this game highly enough and it's not even finished. Devs recently added a third character that plays completely distinctly from the other two, so who knows what the future holds for it.

Improves on just about every aspect of the first game. Combat could still use some tightening up though.

I was a floating slice of bacon talking to a wine bottle in the middle of a midlife crisis. A++

Did you enjoy Road Rash as a kid? Longing for that nostalgic pick up-and-play arcade style fighter/racer? Is your biggest gripe with racing games that you can't attach a sticky bomb to a biker, grab them, jump jet, then kick them off the side of the bridge and watch them blow up in midair in your rear view mirror?

Just buy the game. Stop reading reviews.

This game is astonishingly good. It's a non-linear, rogue-lite metroidvania. If you like metroidvanias, this game will scratch that itch very well. If you like metroidvanias AND rogue-lites, you're actually actively harming yourself by not playing this game.

The good:
- Extremely tight controls
- Different weapon types to suit different playstyles
- Random item/weapon modifiers keep things interesting
- In addition to unlocking items for future runs, you can also upgrade existing weapons/items/stats
- Amusing flavor texts and cheeky NPCs
- It's not easy
- It's in Early Access so it will only get better
- I can't stress this enough, EXTREMELY TIGHT CONTROLS

The bad:
- The game stutters maybe once every two runs. This lasts between one and two seconds, and has only happened when I'm standing still with no other sprites on screen.

Enter the Gungeon became my current favorite game the moment I picked it up. I can't overstate just how fun this game is.

This is a bullet-hell version of Binding of Isaac that's loaded with gun puns. Both the PS4 and Steam versions run equally well. Yes, I own two copies, don't judge me.

Absurdly fun and addicting with one-button gameplay. Don't write it off due to the system's simplicity though -- the game is not easy once you get into it.
