I bought it cause the trailer looked promising. It introduced hunting, fishing, farming, exploring, foraging and making potions all while running your own tavern, so i was expecting some sort of open world explore/management game. but reality is cruel, the game feels incomplete. hunting serves no purpose and is actually counter-productive getting only 1-2 meat per animal killed with your axe breaking down mostly after 2 hunts. One axe costs 200 gold and the yield you get from hunting is simply too low. Rather you could just skip out on the hunting and focus on recipes which requires less effort and still make the gold back.

The map size is small, easily reaching the border within 5 minutes but size is not the issue. It is the density. A small map is fine as long as it is bristled with content, however the world in Ale and Tale Tavern is anything but that. It feels empty, everywhere you look, you see nothing but trees and POIs are only there for quests from NPC and serves no purpose after that. Farming is tedious with how slow it takes to remove the weeds from 30 plots of soil.

Alchemy is where you craft potions to boost yourself for 60 seconds which is made redundant with the bland enemy attacks. All enemies in the game attacks in a more or less similar pattern which you get used to after a while; making potions is only there if you simply find it fun or have nothing to do and not because you need it to brave the dangers the world contains.

Overall, this does not feel like a complete game at all. If it said it was in early access, I would have believed it. I do hope there are updates incoming to bring in more life into the lifeless world of Ale and Tale Tavern. This game would be fun if you play with your friends but I believe with the lack of content now, you would have done almost everything in the game and just focus on running your tavern in about 8-10 hours.

Gameplay may be clunky but that is a given since its just a remastered version. You will get used to it eventually although it will be annoying at times especially during mob and random encounters. But once you get past the gameplay lies a plot with very good storytelling, pace and of course the soundtracks that never fails to hype up the fights

I played this game because it reminded me of retro games which i used to play when i was young. Didn't exoect a tremendous amount of reliance on strategic plays and timing and it's really satisfying once you pull it off.
