Amazing game.

I have the PTD edition on a CD but I never got into it and finally told myself to give it a fair shot in 2024 after all these years. I'm fu||cking glad I did. This game single handedly rekindled my long faded love for single player (well, not exactly single in this case, I guess) games - love I thought long gone, never to be seen again. I can easily understand why a cult has formed around this title.

game is cool when it actually works... which is a 50/50
every game you have a 50% chance of getting stalls that freeze ur game once every 2-3s and the stall's duration increases throughout the game, the only way to fix it is restarting the game (the game also launches for eternity so ur absent for half a match at least)
these idiots from Ubisoft(aka worst dev to ever exist) have known about it for over a year, said that they are aware of that and are looking into a fix... well, then they casually forgot about it and dgf anymore
other than that you can also have ur audio stop working for no reason whatsoever
you can also have gun audio glitch and loop forever
theres more, but lets leave it at that

its been trash for a good while now, hope ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ finally kicks the bucket and the people (if u can call them that) never find a job in game dev

Best W40k shooter with THE GOAT OST :)

Thinking about Dawn of War makes me both pitiful and joyful at the same time. Why? Because since the release of DoW, there were no better RTS W40K games, or dare I say, better W40K themed games of any genre.

Even after all this time, the game plays wonderfully, it's quite remarkable how good of a game this is. The overall feeling of Warhammer 40k's universe is masterfully crafted here. The units look amazing, the grim aesthetics of each maps fits perfectly... and the sound design is top-class, hearing all the units scream and react to the battlefield is unmatched by any modern RTS title.

There are hundreds of unique mods that you can get to enhance the game even more if you get bored of the vanilla races and units (vanilla game is amazing, but it has to be admitted that some of the mods take it to a whole new level). Some of the mods add hundreds of new units, models, sounds or even game modes, so there is always something new to discover. The community is also quite active.

There are some issues of course - the engine is very outdated and if there is one thing I would like the game to get - it would be the separate title with updated engine - do not force the update! (Looking at you Warcraft 3 Refunded...). Some of the mods weight 30 times more than the game itself and it is quite clear that the game's performance can barely keep up with its capped memory. Do not remake or remaster the game itself, I do not want to have another DoW 3 incident... Anyway, this is just me dreaming aloud...

As a long time Warhammer 40 000 fan and book collector - this is the ultimate W40k gaming experience. Dawn of War is, and will most likely, stay unmatched in this category for years to come.
