As a massive fan of the series, I can't in good faith recommend this game to anyone. The controls are clunky and confusing, mechanics are frustratingly difficult to get used to, the game's models are touched up from a mobile gacha game (which was shut down to make this game) called :re birth / :re invoke, and the game is extremely poorly optimized. Even on sale, paying any more than maybe $20 is a terrible ask. Online has been dead on arrival, and the single player content is almost mind numbingly droll and purposeless.
The story is skipped even more than what was skipped in the anime, with some characters noticeably not even appearing and entire scenes being entirely skipped or mentioned only in a dialogue box in the story recap section. The game is bloated with 200 'achievements', which basically require you to either grind for materials, or play through the entire story, and then play the entire game again on both normal and hard difficulties in the campaign section.
Character creation is basic and lacks actual depth, but having one character for each faction is a nice touch. I will say that the presentation of the characters and especially some of the kagune is rather pretty, but beyond flashy colors and a lifeless, grindy experience that only tries to act like a major anime game, this is seriously not worth your time.
Hopefully one day, we can get an actually good Tokyo Ghoul game.

Early Access Review
I do particularly like this game a bit, but there ARE a few problems.
First, the tutorial's not really much of a tutorial per se, but more like, "Good luck and go shoot everything."
Second, the building mechanics for a vehicle, whether it be air or land, is tedious. When you got a vehicle you think might work, it usually doesn't, with aircraft spazzing and shooting off randomly when you try to move and shoot things and land vehicles busting apart after a few well-aimed shots and flipping over, making you a huge target to attacks. I personally feel that the physics are way too strong in this game.
Third, the displays. For the in-game online battles, the Domination theme is somewhat understandable, but at first I didn't understand when the blue goes up, the RED is capturing your side, and vice versa. It just feels so odd for this game to do that.
Fourth and finally, the community. I understand that you have to be 13+ and everything, and that you can't say or do many offensive things, but the COMMUNITY... There are some REALLY profane things people name their ships and what they model their ship after, which I won't point out. I know that the game is made for an older audience but still acceptable for younger kids, but COME ON. This NEEDS to be checked.
For the time that I played this for the first time, I expected a half-decent game. Robocraft just fell short. From physics to display to profanity to a lacking tutorial, I didn't enjoy it as much as I possibly could've.

This game is the definition of amazing. If you love Ninja Gaiden 3, Halo, and Borderlands, this game is perfect for you. I can't tell you how much I loved this game from the very beginning. 9,001/10
