i played and loved this game a year ago when it was free on itch.io. very happy to see it's gotten such a glow up.

if you liked obra dinn, play this game. its shorter but still worth it since this kind of game is a rarity.

differences from the first game

pros: way better UI and polish

neutral: shorter/simpler scenes, much easier endgame

con: story is less interesting, *far* too many scenes that don't have any greater relevance or offer interesting insights to the story

still worth playing if you liked the first game, but im genuinely sad there was not a single case i got stuck on at any point

extremely cute + its free

I think most people will be put off by this game considering it has zero graphics and the menu is pretty terrible, but it is an extremely worthwhile and fun word puzzle game. if you have friends i would highly recommend playing it together on a discord call so they can make fun of your spelling mistakes.

also i somehow missed that THERE IS A HINT BUTTON. USE IT. IT'S CAPSLOCK OR INSERT. SOME PUZZLES ARE INCREDIBLY ANNOYING WITHOUT IT.

the only actual negative i have is about some of the endgame puzzles (light spoiler) are incredibly annoying and require an insane amount of just 'go everywhere you've already been' and is literally just a patience test instead of being something you have to solve. but i'm only hitting that frustration after like 30 hours of play

its like playing dnd if dnd was fun

incredibly engaging murder mystery cut short by budget issues. i honestly expected the acting in this to be ♥♥♥♥ but it was legitimately really good. unlucky really

man i love this game. its brutally difficult at times but so incredibly rewarding. one of, if not the best mystery games ive ever played. i would compare it to outer wilds in terms of having a complete and satisfying story while letting you figure everything out yourself

who knew playing a big meat monster that eats people could be so satisfying. short but sweet game, very worthwhile
