I really wanted to enjoy this game, but there are just too many problems to ignore.
The setting is great and most of the story is fairly well-written, but there are some glaring holes and the ending feels rushed.
The controls are somewhat clunky, like having to move the mouse pretty far away from an object to be able to click something else in case you clicked wrong. There's also no fast walk in the scenes (although there is fast travel between scenes, as long as the arrow is in view). Don't get me started on having to examine some things twice before being able to use them...
As for the characters, a few of them feel really cheesy and exaggerated. I get that it's supposed to be funny, but it ends up becoming annoying pretty fast. The dialogue also feels like it was written by multiple people who didn't fully share the same vision, as the game is really fun and interesting at times, but then just feels like a chore again a few minutes later.
All in all, the game is filled to the brim with unnecessary information, references and silly jokes, many of which are misses.

Now to the good stuff.
The animation is phenomenal; this game is truly beautiful and sets a great mood with scenery alone.
It is, at times, really funny and charming.
Some characters really do have great voice work, and I found myself not speed reading and/or skipping dialogues involving them a single time.

In conclusion, I'd recommend this to people who love point & click adventures, enjoy hand drawn games and are interested in Lovecraftian horror. For people who don't check those boxes, I'd heavily recommend trying before buying.
