Although the game is showing its age and the current new player experience is an overripe onion of old, disjointed systems, there is a gem here for those willing to do some archaeology and dig through the layers. If you're in it for fast, smooth, polished gameplay and hardcore endgame raiding I would steer clear, but if you want a lovingly crafted world with powerful social tools based on Tolkiens works I think LotRO delivers like no other MMO.
