As of November 2023, all I can say is the time has passed for Destiny 2. While there is plenty of fun to be had in the game as-is, and I have spent thousands of hours in this world (and realistically I still want to see this story close out), I can't in good faith recommend this game to another person. The game made by a studio that lays off staff after explicitly saying they were not going to after the Sony acquisition in the scummiest fashion possible. Listen to your employees, listen to your creators, listen to your fans.

It's pretty early but it's decent low-budget game - that being said, as of this review, upon leaving and reloading a co-op game, half the structures I built disappeared, so I'd say probably make sure your worlds save and load properly before investing too hard.

From the 30 minutes I played, it seems like a good game. However, the two biggest issues I saw immediately:

- Fake ultrawide support. They 'crop' the normal 16:9 image to get it to fit. It's VERY cramped feeling.
- The co-op mode does not give shared progress to the co-op player. It says a temporary save file is created until the session is over. You can play through half of the game with a friend, but then can't go play on your own, you have to start from scratch.

Until that one big issue is changed, I can't recommend it for anyone looking to play cooperatively. The ultrawide thing is just annoying.

A pretty fun game with very unfortunate monetization. An interesting mashup of PoE, Diablo 3 and Lost Ark with heavy handed initial pricing schemes.

My estimates from the beta (1 US dollar = 100 gems) were thinking that it would be a little bit pricy, but still might be worth playing. The full version more than halved that: 1 US dollar = 44 gems. So all of those prices are now doubled, and also now has the whole predatory aspect of "oh, well you have to spend 3 dollars to get 132 gems, so now you don't have enough left over to get anything so you might as well put another dollar in". On top of that, the free essence storage you got in the Next Fest demo is no longer free, which will stress your storage and inventory space by the end of Act 2.

Unless the monetization scheme is toned down dramatically and the predatory partial pricing is removed, I can only recommend you stay away.

After seeing the announcement of Birth, I came back and played this game. Absolutely worth the price point, totally charming and relatable.

it's three dollars for a very chill game that is highly replayable

if you don't buy it, you are problematic

EDIT: it's five dollars now and even more worth it, comment stands
