Played through this with my wife and overall I recommend it. Although I didn't find it anywhere near as good as reviews suggested around release. At the time of this review I played through the game once with a total play time of 12.9 hours.

My main gripes are the crafting system that takes so much more away from the gameplay than it gives. Since you can't backtrack the game always have to give you access to materials to craft anything you need in an encounter or you would be stuck. So there is really no urgency to try and scavenge for materials. Still, constantly looking for materials and taking detours to find them also diminishes the feeling of urgency the game otherwise would have.
The levels are mostly linear and works best that way. Some opens up a bit more but the relatively clunky controls made those levels an annoying chore.

The game would also benefit from a grounding in reality. Maybe the grand inquisitor could have gotten the plague and survived. Convinced the plague is god's punishment for the wicked he actively spreads it and must be stopped. The supernatural theme was poorly defined and not very compelling.

The game is good, not great. Looks good but stutters occasionally for me. Fine to play once but I don't feel compelled to replay it anytime soon.
