This game is a Source Engine remake of the Goldsrc remake of the Quake mod Team Fortress. It's free so you should try it if you're interested, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Problems I have with the game after playing for an hour and a half (some more important than others):
- Bullet weapons (shotguns, nail guns, etc) do very little damage. I've shot at a soldier at point blank range four times with a super shotgun without killing him.
- It's hard to know how much damage you're actually doing since there's no damage numbers, etc
- Calling for a medic/ammo is clunky, as you need to hold down a button and move your mouse over an icon. The standard key then number would work just fine (especially since there are only three options)
- Health is difficult to find, as you need to search for a green backpack which may or may not have health
- This could only be a problem on some maps (all of the maps I played), but there is no equivalent of a resupply locker, making you need to go looking for a green backpack or a nice medic
- The voice in the tutorial is grating and repeats itself too much when you mess something up
- The air strafing mechanic explained in the tutorial straight up doesn't make any sense to me (I just might be dumb) and I didn't find it needed in the actual game at all
- Game crashes
- Lack of appealing/coherent graphics style (or really any style at all)
- Weapons don't feel meaty, powerful, or fun to use. They just feel weak, like something I'd download and then delete in Garry's Mod
- Demoman's grenades and pipes look the same for both teams, leading to unnecessary confusion. Grenades and pipes are colored different to differentiate each other apart when they should just be separate models with the team color.
- Classes have too many identical weapons. Almost every class has at least one shotgun (why does a class need two different ones?) and a crowbar
- Classes look too similar at a distance
- Most fights turn into rocket and grenade spam
- Every class has the same voice

Community related:
- Elitist community (e.x. "this is real team fortress," "man, hat fortress sucks now")
- Not enough populated servers

The worst part about all of these issues is that they probably will never be fixed. The mod was originally released in 2007. As a remake of Team Fortress Classic, however, they have done a decent job. That game has most of the same issues, almost all of which were fixed in Team Fortress 2.

Closing: If you like Team Fortress Classic, you'll probably like it. If you like Team Fortress 2, this will serve as a sort of history lesson (if you don't want to pay $4.99 for Team Fortress Classic).

If you like shooting the bad guys then this is one of the games for you. When Counter-Strike was originally released in 2000, I didn't play it because I was like 1 year old. I play it now because of the fast/slow paced actions and the guns. There are a bunch of guns in Counter-Strike that you can use. There are little guns that are cheap, and big guns that are expensive. But here lies the problem with Counter-Strike... people don't even use all of the guns! Whenever I find onto a server, all of the players are only using the black gun, the brown gun, the silver gun, and the green gun. Even though there is a bunch of weapons, they aren't really all used much of the time. In the end, I play Counter-Strike because my computer is afraid of Counter-Strike: Source.

This game sucks. It's an awful physics-based puzzle game with unpredictable physics, bad graphical design, and awful puzzles. I dare anybody to actually beat this. There's a reason that people give this to each other as a gag gift.

Ricochet is a weird game. You hop around on platforms in a futuristic setting and throw discs at other players, similar to Tron. This game is rather old, so the graphics aren't the greatest. The sound effects are lacking, and I don't recall any music. The biggest reason that I don't recommend this is because of the lack of servers. There were usually only 3-5 servers while I was playing, and most were empty or had a few bots. It would be nice if there was an offline mode with bots, but like many of the old goldsrc games, there is not. If you really want to try this out, you should definitely wait for a sale or get it in the Counter-Strike 1 Anthology.

Nobody plays this anymore and you can't play offline with bots.
