let me preface this by saying I played most of this game on ps3, so my poultry 10 hours on record are probably much more; I'm saying this because a strange phenomenon of people defending the recent decisions made for this game has erupted, and one of the many defenses they've come up with is how "the people who dont like this decision don't even play the game" basically accusing people of outrage baiting. If you ask me these people are way more the type to go after a random indie game because it doesn't fit their moral standards so this defense irks me in more ways than one, mostly because they probably haven't acknowledged it in years let alone go after these "issues" that apparently needed addressing; put simply they don't actually care about anything other than looking like a good guy.
Anyway I'm writing this because as you know, future club has decided to "update" this game to remove some of it's content, of which includes relatively minor affairs like editing sprites to be less revealing to fully removing content like announcer packs and art work to fit in with "modern sensibilities" firstly making it so the female characters dont show off their assets as much is paradoxical as that was one of the main appeals of the game in the first place, not to mention that doesn't make them any less designed to be sexy, ms fortune and parasoul in particular; you might also state how filia is 16, not mentioning how she looks absolutely nothing like a 16 year old and how she isn't real, if you wanna go after pedophiles so much then go after real ones this is a complete non-issue. Second I find it absolutely absurd how they rmoved a russian announcer pack because of the ukraine war, are russians just an inherently offensive concept now? do you think if someone heard tomar from oneyplays say ♥♥♥♥ in a zangief accent would make them into ukraine hating russo nazis or did someone on staff want to be racist while also satisfying their hero complex? by far one of the worst changes here if you ask me since it's so blatant of a virtue signal that I feel dumber having to acknowledge the fact it happened. Lastly they edited a few art pieces and cutscenes from the game, admittedly there has been some info that's been chinese whispered about the charity drive fanart being removed, it wasn't they just changed valentine's crosses because of copyright; the big band situation is true though, apparently you can only acknowledge real world issues like police brutality through 12 fantasy filters so some mental fabrige egg doesn't have a panic attack in between bouts of watching bluey and thristing over actual real life 8 year olds; the scene out right admonishes police brutality so changing it to remove any violence isn't even a good move from their point of view because it looks like they aren't acknowledging ♥♥♥♥ like this happens.
There's also stuff about how the umbrella army kinda resemble the nazis or whatever, which they do have the sash but if you actually believe they endorse one of the biggest human rights disasters of the previous century then you're actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.
Overall I loved this game, I think the characters are likable even without their good looks, the animation is absolutely fantastic and it's fun to pull off crazy combos with those snappy sound effects; I want to say I still love this game but it's clear that it isn't a labor of love anymore, it's a product, and a product that isn't marketable is a bad product right? I guess this is the fate of all games now, either no one plays it or a bunch of people do and then the executives want you to change ♥♥♥♥, admittedly this sounds bit much for talking about upskirts in a fighting game but one thing I always appreciated this game for being was two people's unique vision, now something like that can't exist in this day and age of modern gaming, and if you call any of this out for being pandering advertising then you get lumped it with actual brain deads like thequartering
for them I say they don't care about any actual issues, they care about dough, and half-hearted pushes against whatever villain of the week is in the news makes dough

TL;DR: weird how they didn't remove the guy who ♥♥♥♥♥ dead animals, get this game in some way that doesn't support the devs, mike z was just autistic

I wouldn't say it's for everyone but if you're looking for a good challenge and want more games made with traditional animation, then I'd say you should atleast check it out

A prime example of this game is "short but sweet"
