Early Access Review
Even though I've always appreciated them, I've always bounced off of Ankamas other games and found learning them kind of off putting, even though the companies art direction and dedication to their IP's is something to be admired. One type of gameplay I tend to like a lot in a gaming space but not so much IRL are TCG's, as figuring out the correct method of using a hand of cards can be very engaging for some people. Waven scratches that itch for me, and I've really taken to it's classes and gameplay loop. It has a lot of grinding and very light MMO-esque features, but 95% of it's gameplay is simply choosing encounters from a menu. People looking for deep storytelling, exploration, character appearance customization and immersion won't find much of that here. If that doesn't bug you, and you don't mind your powers during turns being somewhat random, I'd say at least check it out.

You have 15 Card slots maximum for a deck. 9 Cards minimum. There are equipment pieces that only activate if you have a bigger deck, like 12 cards or 15. Other than that requirement on some gear pieces IF you want to use them, it's extremely flexible how you want to build your character. Having the minimum amount of cards doesn't mean you have a weaker deck, in fact the lower number of cards dramatically increases the chance you getting the cards you need.

There are four suites of magic: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. They do a large variety of things, but they tend to boil down to aspects they do well, like Water and Earth for support and armor shielding, or Fire and Air for AoE damage and enemy manipulation respectfully. You can simply do a single element, do two elements, or even combine three or four of them. Besides elemental spells, each Class archetype and subclass have cards they can use specific to them, to freely mix and match with the elemental spells. At first it seems limiting, but as you collect gear and level that gear, build potential and opportunities start becoming very frequent and enjoyable.

I keep ditching characters to level new ones because I get an idea in my head about how to build it, please send help.
