This is a great factory / resource management game. The mechanics synergize well and make you think hard about tradeoffs and the progression of needed resources to building space. For example need more food but now need to add ice processing buildings for farms ect.. Which usually to make that leap you need to open new sectors which strains your Alloys and hull management. Keeping the balance I think is fun.

However the game is difficult and can be unforgiving if you make a bad decision. The tech tree is big and has a lot of things to research that can change how you play the game. However some of these technologies feel almost required to progress to go through the game without getting crushed but feel hidden or hard to find for new players. For example something like the "Additional Beds" research for housing which increases housing capacity by 30% is almost a must to have quickly but it is not obvious and by the time you realize you need it having to try and get the hospital bed research first can just be to slow. However other sub tech I thought would be really important like the ones to make your ships "endure dangerous weather conditions." Didn't seem to help as most of my ships were lost in storms anyway.

Regardless learning the game through trial and error was still very fun and I think if you like resource management and factory games this is a must to play.

The game can be difficult and it doesn't do a lot to hold your hand in learning about the importance of certain mechanics. The tech tree is large but most of the research is buried under the menu of the main research with unclear
