Depression Quest is an indie "game" that tries to delve into the mind of a person with depression. You play as a guy that has to live with depression and throughout the "game" you are given multiple routes to choose from and that choice will, to an extent, change the path your character is walking.

Now before I begin giving my opinion on this "game". You should know that Depression Quest isn't infact a "game" but more of a "choose your own adventure" kind of book in digital form. Now i ask these questions: Why is there listed as an RPG? Why is this even considered a game? Why do i feel like not much effort was put into this game? I decided to review this anyway for god knows why, so lets begin.

GAMEPLAY: 0/10

Zero, nill, null. This is more of a book than a game, you basically keep reading then select a choice, then rinse and repeat. You get indicators that show how depressed you are, if you are or are not seeing a therapist and if you are taking medication or not, that's the closest thing i can relate to gameplay.

STORY: 4/10

Your character is a person that lives through depression, you have a very supportive girlfriend called Alex that is always there for you, you have a great mom, great brother that supports you as well as a close online friend that goes by the alias of "attic". Now here's where i feel everything went wrong, why is everyone so supportive of you? this doesn't happen in real life, no one apparently gives a ♥♥♥♥ about you when you remain at home all day.
Another big problem of the game is that the paths you take feel very linear, the author could've expanded on it more and it could've been a lot more interesting than it ended up being.

GRAPHICS: 0/10

There is no graphics at all here. You'll find a few gifs here and there and a couple of uninspired pictures if you consider those graphics.

SOUND: 1/10

Rather generic piano music playing in a loop, it got so boring after 5 minutes that i had to actually disable the sound. If there is technically no gameplay, atleast give us good music for crying out loud! There are also some very annoying distortion in the music, which was not fun for the ears.

FINAL VERDICT: 2/10

Linear "game" that doesn't have any insteresting elements or a particularly interesting or unique story, Depression Quest feels like there is no effort put into it at all. I would much rather read a book or novel than this. Not to mention that this is being advertised as a RPG game for some reason.
