It's the most average blend of average fps elements, ruined by a bunch of semi bad - but not totally awful- balancing choices. Multiplayer hit registration will leave you questioning reality.

Best game in the deckbuilding genre, especially if you play with the DLC. RNG can be a bit cruel sometimes, but still a fun game with great artwork and synergies.

It's fun, but simply too bloated. The worst part might be having to fight waves of enemies in a card based game. Killed all the enemies on the playing field? Too bad, have to wait for the next wave. Too bad you lose all the buffs your characters acquired on round end. Don't want to fight 10 enemies all at once? Too bad, you have to. Waves are fun.

Beautiful graphics, fun game design (minus the wave combats), just lacking focus. I enjoyed my time but the combat is too repetitive, and the combats where you have to fight waves of enemies is a slog. It's close to being a great game, but I'm not sure if it'll get any closer than close.

Editing review: game is solid now :) You'll die a lot at first while you level up and figure out things, but the game is fun and worth the early grind.

Updated review 11-25-24

One of the best deckbuilder-style games out there, as far as characters and options and choices and paths...but the dev/dev team cannot make an engaging boss fight.

It could have been great. But unfortunately, at this point, if you're thinking about playing this game, don't.

The combat is soul-crushingly tedious. I wrote a longer review but it was as boring as this game is, so I deleted it, which is also what I'm going to do with this game.

Starts out really fun. Pleasant little card game that presents a good challenge. Near the end the fights just don't make any sense and are terribly unbalanced. It turns a fun challenge into a supremely boring slog.

This is an Early Access review

Typically I don't even bother looking at Early Access games, but this one looked so polish and crisp I thought I'd give it a try. You probably keep seeing borderlands thrown around when describing this game. It definitely has that vibe, but in a dungeon-crawling-esque setting. Enemies can have shield or armor on top of their hp, and like borderlands, shock, corrosive, and fire elements each have a use.

You get 2 weapons plus a starter pistol. You can only carry 2 weapons at a time, so you have to mix and match as best suits you.

Weapons: weapons are quirky, have special effects specific to each gun as well as small bonuses called inscriptions. If you enjoy borderlands weaponry for its wackiness, you'll enjoy these weapons. Most importantly, however, they're all fun and satisfying to use.

Enemies: what makes a great game stand out to me is enemy variation, and this game has it by the spades. If you enjoyed games such as Sanctum 2, Borderlands, Destiny, etc for their enemy variation, you'll like this game.

Movement: like everything else about this game, movement is crisp, responsive, and clean. You can't sprint but you have a dash.

You'll die a lot at first, but pretty soon you'll get the hang of it. At the moment, my only real complaint is there isn't much content. And by that I mean, I'm at 60 hours and starting to feel the repetition as I grind for the last few unlocks currently available. If this game gets more content, it will have a chance to ascend into GOAT status.

Fantastic game. A little grindy at the beginning since you're so underpowered. Experimenting is fun. Some of the maps are hell, but fun hell. Grab a friend or two for maximum gusta.

My favorite game and it's not really that close.

Good:
Incredible enemy variety-you have to pay attention to what enemies are coming, because not every gun/loadout works for every enemy. Almost every enemy has a unique way of attacking. Almost every enemy has a unique strength.
Weapons are fun-every weapon has a primary and secondary fire feature. And you don't have to wait for reloading. And again, the variety is fantastic.
The world interacts with you-enemies punch you, and you feel it. Enemies spit at you, and you feel it. Enemies rampage across your face, and you feel it. Your gun fires rockets, and you feel it.
Level variety-I won't say no two levels are the same, since a few are similar to others, but overall, each map feels unique.
YOU CAN DESIGN THE MAZE HOW YOU WANT IT-it's so good. You're given an empty space on which to build your maze and tower defenses. The possibilities for experimentation are endless.
Perks-Wanna deal massive headshot damage? Do it. Want to add a lightning bounce to your bullets? Check. Want to heal your core after every wave? We got you. Want to ignore enemy armor? Go right ahead. HELLO CORPSE EXPLOSION??? HELL YEAH. Etc. But you have to choose carefully: not every perk is good for every map/loadout.
Loadout variety-the replayability is almost endless. Wanna just do explosive damage? Help yourself. Feel like sniping? You can do that too. Want to barrel stuff your enemies with a shotgun? Guess what, you can do that too. Want to tank? Want to kite? Want to blow the ♥♥♥♥ out of enemies left and right? YOU CAN DO IT.
Boss fights-you'll see.
Towers-there's so much hidden information for tower damage, and I don't want to spoil it for you. But again, the replayability is basically endless. Want to damage every lume at once? Max out that Automatic Crowd Pummeler (ACP). Want to rain fiery death from space upon the hoardes? Summon the Orbital Space Laser. And on and on.
Difficulty-perfect game if you just want to relax and do some casual shooting. But if you want to sweat and rage and destroy friendships, go hardcore with the feats of strength. You will hate life itself.
Gamemodes-campaign, easy mode, and endless survival.

Bad:
Connection-your connection will determine if you can land crit shots. Some enemies can only be killed by crits, and if you're not host, you're gonna have a bad time. The solution is probably play with a friend who doesn't live across the country from you, but...
Perks-some of the perks are more or less useless, especially on hardcore difficulties
Co op-I found playing solo to be kinda meh. Game is best when played with a friend, in my opinion.

Overall, you'll have a blast. There's a crap load of replayability and loadout custimization. And the game is much more complex than you think at first. The way certain perks change your damage output/tower damage output gives you so many ways to take on the enemy and win. This game is good: so good it's spoiled me.

And don't be afraid to explore. Some of the invisible walls aren't as strong as they seem >:D
