I only have a lot of playtime in this game because of playing it with friends and when I got really into it.

I have a problem with the enemies in this game. let me explain. lets lake a game such as Terraria for example, which sounds like a bit of a stretch but it will make sense. I haven't played Terraria in a while but I remember enough to make this comparison that will hopefully be interesting.

tl;dr basically, rather than you fighting more powerful enemies as your power increases, you just fight the same enemies with artificially increased slats that make them more powerful for no reason, which makes the enemies boring. and the process of getting more powerful weapons pointless and uninteresting. for a lot of people the game keeps up the illusion that you are really getting more powerful. but for me and my friends, we eventually saw through it, even if it did take a few dozen hours.

the whole point of this game is that you get weapons that are a certain power level that increases your overall power and then you kill the same enemies over and over just so you can get higher powered items to increase your power so you can kill more enemies and so on. the entire grind is pointless. well, not exactly pointless, per se, because you are increasing your power, but it never feels like you're grinding to something bigger or greater, or towards an ultimate goal. you're just grinding for the same things with a higher power number.

in Terraria there are many different kinds of enemies. the first enemies you encounter are the green slimes. these slimes stay low on the ground and have very low health and can only hurt you a very tiny bit if you touch them. you can kill them in a few hits with the starting weapon. then lets take another enemy type such as the harpy. the harpies are flying enemies that have significantly more health and can use both melee and ranged attacks that do a lot of damage. if you were to fight them with your starting weapon, it would be possible but it would be extremely difficult and you would maybe even die trying.

later in Terraria you can upgrade to various equipment such as better swords, bows, guns, explosives, maces, stronger armor, gaining more health and character abilities, and more. when you get these better and better items, you find that the slimes, zombies, harpies, and all the other enemies are very easy to kill. at some point, you'll even have strong enough items to kill slimes and zombies in one hit with no problem. your upgraded stuff also allows you to more easily fight enemies such as the enemies in the Hell dimension and the challenging bosses.

to me, this is the huge part that Destiny 2 gets wrong.

for example, there are many enemy types, such as the Kabal, Vex, and Scorn that you kill through the entire game. later in the game, as your power increases, you don't fight any new types of enemies. instead, you just fight the same Kabal, Vex, Scorn, etc, the same types of enemies again, but they are just inexplicably stronger and do more damage. if you do one mission where you need 900 power and the same mission but higher difficulty where you need 1000 power, the enemies are going to be the same. the only difference is that their health and damage is increased. and their health and damage increase is pretty much proportional to your power increase, so it doesn't feel like anything has improved. it doesn't feel like you're actually fighting stronger types of enemies. it's essentially just a difficulty slider that increases as your power increases.

in conclusion thats why i eventually learned i don't like this game. there's no ultimate goal or greater reward to progress towards and the progress that's there is an endless pointless loop.

unless you care at all about the storyline (which to me is not interesting and a lot of the dialogue is just badly written and cringy), don't waste your time because i could have played so many other things or done anything else.

I preordered the deluxe edition of this game for $70 and I'm still trying to live down that grief to this day because I cannot describe just how not worth it it was. as you can see by my hours played I don't completely hate this game, but perhaps the reason my playtime is so high is because when I played this game I was like 14 or 15 years old with nothing but time to kill. still, I am somewhat torn with this game because while I think that there are qualities of the game that are good such as completing missions using stealth and hacking and even the story that many people seem to dislike, there are also many other things that are wrong with this game even to this day that go from simple annoyances to downright unacceptable. if there is only one thing i got good out of playing this game, it's the wisdom to never preorder a game ever again. and I haven't since then!

okay so lets get the good things out of the way first. I haven't played this game in quite some time so my memory might not serve me too well on what i know about the game but the stealth mechanics combined with the hacking are, I wouldnt even say pretty good but good enough to be satisfying. I don't really know what else to say about that. also I like the story and i think Aiden Pearce is an interesting character even though I understand that people hate him because he acts much like a boring emotionless robot for 95% of the game.

now lets get to the stuff that sucks, which is a good majority of the stuff. first and foremost I need to say that the driving in this game has got to be some of the worst driving mechanics I've ever experienced in any game ever. I don't know who designed it, but it had to be someone with the same level of intelligence as an armadillo with aspergers and low-funcitioning autism who was just ran over by a car, probably one driven by Aiden Pearce, and left out to marinate on the asphalt for 3 weeks. this might be fine if driving was not a huge part of this game, but very, very unfortunately, you are going to be driving pretty much everywhere. thank god that there aren't any other kinds of vehicles in this game because having to control those would probably be like uhh eating an armadillo or whatever moronic ♥♥♥♥ I said a few sentences ago. (edit 12-5-2021 I have edited out the slightly offensive text because everything else I said already perfectly encompasses how abysmal the driving is)

lets also address the fact that whether you have this game's graphics on ultra settings or on the lowest settings possible, it still looks like complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. much like many of ubisoft's titles, the game's graphics and gameplay were extremely overhyped, so much so that ubisoft essentially lied to the world. many people bought this game on how good the graphics looked alone, but were supremely disappointed on the ubisoft downgrade that was presented to them on a piece of cardboard from a soup kitchen. also much in the vein of ubisoft is the poor optimization. I mean thats pretty much it on the

I got bored writing that so I'm gonna move on and wrap this up before I post this review. your movement in this game is extremely limited and pretty much only lets you roam around the flat, lifeless plane of Chicago. the physics are nothing to write home about either. when you so much as caress a stack of wooden palettes or a light pole on the road, it will instantly come down in a pile of glitchy-looking, unfinished garbage. my last main point ill bring up is the online. oh Jesus Christ the online is so bad. I tried playing in freeroam with my friends some time ago but it was extremely glitchy because me and my friends were seeing different cars on the road than those that I was seeing, so like they would climb on top of a box truck and from my perspective there would be like a normal sized sedan there so they would be floating above the sedan and would be glitching up and down because the game was trying to figure out their position because they were in a different position than they should be and like blah blah blah i think you understand what I'm saying. and also there isn't really a point to playing free roam because you cant really cooperate and do anything because there is no coop or actual missions to do. plus like the world and the mechanics aren't interesting enough to make the game worth even exploring. I don't know what its like now but I'm pretty sure its still ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to this day and i cant be bothered to install this stillborn of a game to check.

this review is way longer than i expected so I'm just gonna end it here. if you read this far, what are you doing with your life. there are better uses of your time than this, like refunding this game which I unfortunately do not have the liberty to do because I put too much time into it, as you can see, searching for any nugget of good game design.

tl;dr: buy grand theft auto v instead. its on sale. even if its not on sale its a better use of your money than this garbage

yeah okay sooooo basically this game sucks. and smells

I've built intricate pathways, going over and under, every which way, spanning hundreds, maybe thousands of blocks away. I've created completely automated mining systems with iron and copper plates being made hundreds by the minute. I've concoted systems of power requiring thousands of metric tons of coal, generating power for my constant grind to the end. I've put everything in the exact right place, doing the exact thing I intended it to to and doing it at exactly the speed I want it to go.


And I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking at.

this game is so terrible and its been in my library for too long for me to even get a refund. absolutely do not buy this. the tutorial and graphics are weird and the way you look at different layers is really confusing. in general, it is just not a great experience for the 5 minutes ive played it.

Comedy at the beginning, exhiliration at the end, and some bullets and blood in the middle. Satisfying and all-around beautiful and amazing game. Highly reccomended.

i got this game in around 2010 when i was probably like 9 years old because my cousin saw the garrys mod idiot box series on youtube and always talked about how cool the game was. i installed it and i played it for a few minutes, possibly hours, before i got really confused and tired of it and thought it was the big gay and then closed it and never played it again for a year or two. then i opened it after that time and as you can see from my number of hours played i have wasted a fair portion of my life playing this game. i usually just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in random servers until i found darkrp and got addicted to it and eventually became a moderator and even more eventuallier a superadmin for a long time and i made a lot of good and funny friends there and then the owners of the last server i was a superadmin on started making the gay clonewars rp stuff and didnt focus on darkrp so then all of those friends left including myself and we all went our separate ways. im starting to get more into this game recently but its even more of a lawless, uncivilized, wasteland that's bordering on being illegal from the amount of autism this game contains. this game is pretty dead and a lot of it is gay especially the rp subgenres such as furryrp and ponyrp and the like and also things like clonewars rp and military rp where the servers are 99% of the time taken WAAAY too seriously. theres still some cool servers and places to be and things to do but your best bet on having fun is getting into private sandbox servers with your friends. i wish it was as popular as it used to be because the moments i had when being a moderator/superadmin and ♥♥♥♥ were some of the most fun ive had playing video games and it would be pretty cool to experience that again.

tl;dr its a cool game but its not very popular anymore and it's kinda gone a little bit to ♥♥♥♥ but not entirely because its still pretty fun to play on servers and stuff if you find the right ones. play it with some good friends.
