Just like last year I am a day late. Yesterday (June 28th) was the day in 2005 when what we all know as Operation Red Wings came to be. I know there are a ton of other situations that show men of valor doing what they do best, but I like this one in particular. Operation Red Wings shows sacrifice, warriors at work. Sacrificing something is the one thing that everyone thinks they can do, but when you think a little more deeply about it, the majority wouldn't be capable. Would you sacrifice yourself to a battle that may only end up as a pyrrhic victory when you have a wife/fiance at home? Danny Dietz and Matthew Axelson both had wives, while Michael Murphy had a fiance. When Maria Dietz, Cindy Oji Axelson, and Heather Duggan kissed their husbands on the cheek before they shipped out, I'm sure they couldn't wait until they could finally see them return, to know they're safe and not in a place of war
