My father was a Vietnam vet and he enjoyed games that took place there, especially if they were first-person shooters.
He would've loved this CDLC.
Rest in peace, dad.

Isn't filled w/ predatory micro-transactions and battle passes like Diablo 4, and isn't as intimidating with it's skill trees like Path of Exile. A good entry ARPG, and a good ARPG throughout. Buy it.

Also you can play offline.

Played it before and wrote it off because I thought it was too difficult.
Gave it another shot recently and It's now one of my favorite souls-like games.

Granted I still have a few gripes about the game, such as:
- Most of the later maps are a bit labyrinthine in structure and it's really easy to get lost when trying to traverse to new areas
- Plenty of shortcuts made for the medbay (this game's bonfire), but good luck remembering them
- Block/parry system is abit jank, sometimes your blocks will register and you can counter-attack and sometimes the enemies' attacks will go through your block like a knife through butter.
- Difficulty scaling for enemies is a bit ridiculous come later levels (looking at you bloodhound robots).

Other than that, the setting, the combat, the various weapon types to choose from and the move sets that they have for each I pretty much enjoyed. The story is not much to write home about, but there's much worse stories out there. The game did it's job, and I more than recommend this game for anyone looking to scratch that souls-like itch.

Two or so years of hype for a very middling expansion. My overall experience was pretty disappointing, and if it wasn’t for a friend of mine who bought the expac for me, I probably wouldn’t be playing it again.

Pros:
- The QoL changes are appreciated, loadouts especially.
- The music and sound design is pretty good
- Tormentors are a challenging addition. I just wish they would suppress a bit less

Neutral:
- Armor 3.0 might take a bit of getting used to, while I appreciate not having to worry about what element is on my armor, the mod selection feels a lot more restrictive. Maybe that will change in time, but as of now that’s how I feel.

Cons:
- Neomuna is all style, and no substance. The world might look visually appealing, but the world is just filled with the same monotonous tasks you’re used to since the very first iteration of Destiny.
- Strand feels mid at best. Grappling does not feel great and lacks that sense of speed that you get from other movement shooters. Hunters have the only viable super, while Warlock’s is disappointing and Titan’s is just the Stasis super but green.
- The story is all over the place. I feel like I’m watching a grade-B MCU movie, and things like the Veil and the Radial Mast are never fully explained or what they do.

The only saving grace right now is how the raid will turn out, but we’ll have to see in a few weeks. I’m still going to play the game because I have a problem, but to anyone looking on purchasing it for themselves, don’t. Or at least wait for a deep sale because it is not worth the asking price.

Edit: MS just announced Tango's closure on the 7th of May, 2024.
RIP Tango, we'll never see a sequel to this amazing game

Original Review:

After playing it for a decent amount of time, I decided to change my review a bit.

This is one of my favorite games of all time.
The characters are great and varied
The bosses, in terms of their design and mechanics are awesome
The setting and the visual presentation is fantastic
The music is peak perfection
Every note, every beat, every hit feels and sounds satisfying
Every combo is satisfying and extensive enough
This is truly one of the greatest games that the devs over at Tango Gameworks ever created, and I want to thank them so much for making this fantastic blend of action and music games and creating this amazing game.

Oh and yeah you can pet the cat,

Best open-world zombie shooter I've played in years.
Shame that it won't get a sequel
