Great quests that impact the game world and it's characters. Tended to be quite buggy and crashed frequently. I wish it would get remastered with the Fallout 4 engine (keeping the New Vegas dialog system)

Graphically beautiful, unique gameplay mechanic, and a good storyline (particularly the ending). It's only downside it that it's short.

I've been a huge fan of the Deus Ex universe ever since I played the original when it first came out. Unfortunately, this game does not live up to the legacy of its forebears.

Deus Ex: The Fall retains the stylized golden appearance of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I quite liked HR's art syle, which set it apart from the common browns and blacks of both the older Deus Ex games and so many others in the first person space. So, The Fall gets points for at least staying true to the style of HR. However, since this is a port to PC from an iOS/Android game, the graphics are severely lacking, even when compared with games several years old, such as HR.

The mechanics of The Fall are significantly different from HR. Egregiously, your character cannot jump. The game has only a single "save slot" which is overwritten by every quicksave or even when changing areas. Controls are awkward at best, given that they cannot be remapped and the "quickslot" system is anything but quick. These limitations make sense for a mobile game. However, it's quite jaring when compared to other PC games, or even ports to PC from console (such has HR).

Furthermore, aiming is simply awkward. For example, aiming a weapon with a scope without firing seems to be impossible. A single button controls both. Press and hold to aim, release to fire. The non-scoped weapons are only slightly easier to use. Gone are the "iron sights" aiming of HR.

Other than by-design limitations of the game, it is also unfortunate that The Fall also riddled with bugs. The most glaring is that any system with more than stereo speakers is completely broken. Music consistently plays, but all other sounds drop out at random, taking captions along for the ride! There is a work-around: in Window's Sound settings, change your speakers back to simple stereo (from 5.1, 7.1, etc).

More minor bugs abound, such as achievements that are listed as completed in-game but not in Steam. One must activate an ability, consume an item, or change areas in order to trigger the acheivement. While this is a minor annoyance, it illustrates the lack of effort put into the port. Since the game knows the achievement unlocked, it's inexcusable for the Steam unlock to be lagging.

Not all is bad. The "spirit" of Deus Ex is present in that most missions can be completed in multiple ways. I suspect that shooting enthusiasts will be disappointed, but non-lethal stealth is quite possible. Oddly enough, bodies auto-disapear instead of sticking around to alert your enemies. This makes "stealth" almost trivial.
